uhm, nice. you might want to think about touching up the small imperfections. Wheels still look good actually.
The one next to it looks pretty interesting as well...

Yes, I did buy it. I will probably part it out.
I would like to try to get the engine running first.
The body damage is not so bad but the water damage might be bad. I will know more next week when it is at my place...

It's been outside for 9 years with the sun roof open and no back window? ....wow! Would love to see photo's of the inside and engine. If you don't mind...what did you pay for it? I've been looking for something like this for a while.
Thanks
Oliver

Yep, it's a nice green interior, certainly the seats and the carpet. Door panels and dash look good though. I hope some of the plastic parts will clean up nicely. Don't know about the leather seats...
To make it easier for who will buy parts from this car in the future, I will not tell you how much I paid but I did not get it for free. Let's say that if the engine is still ok, I did a nice deal. If not, it will be difficult to get my money back.
The car is a 1993 and had the accident in 1995.
The bodyshop started working on removing parts until the owner said there was an insurance case that had to go on trial so the put the 50000 Euro car outside under a cover and never looked at it again ???!!!!
When I went to see it 3 years ago, the cover had obviously ripped and was next to the car...

I don't know the mileage but being a weekend car for the owner, it should not be more than 30000km in these 2 years (the original tires are not worn out).

I have seen worse cars get repaired but I wonder what rust has done. I guess Mazda did not really concentrate on rust prevention from the inside out

Looks really..ehmm you know like a project in its early stage.

Only people from the Rx community will say this but... Congratulations on your new purchase.

If everything works out I might go shopping for a car aswell.

hm, actually, rust could be a problem: since the car was open, the carpets have soaked full of water, making a constant wet layer. This could be a problem, even though the rust protection is applied in a bath, and therefor will be as good in as out. I'm curious to see the car "naked", with the interior removed.
Hopefully the engine is good, so that one can be sold for a good price, and I can buy some parts of it cheap

It sure is a shame the bodyshop did not continue to keep all the parts inside and the entire car covered. I would think most of the electronics are not in good shape? If the motor works out, you still have trans, diff and lots of other parts people can use. Again, when you have the car, I would love to see the inside/motor... help to see what we can and can't use.

I have a few odds and ends which I whould be interested in, depending on working condition:

1)Front bound stopper assembly - both of my boots are torn
2)Glove box handle - one of the internal parts broke/snapped a few years ago. I fixed it but would like to have a spare when/if it craps out on me again.
3) Fasteners/clips which hold the front plastic wheel well covers in place, few are stretched and worn out.
4) would like to have a spare Air Pump

Not big items but let me know when you get a chance.
Thanks
Oliver

Micro climate ?

Got the car in my garage now.
For those with special interest in plants and vegetables, have a look here:

Others can have a look at the rest of todays pictures here:
http://users.pandora.be/multirotor/fd3sparts/

It looks like the car is too good to part out. The accident damage is not bad at all and there is no rust on the bottom of the car.
I had a quick look under the carpet and I found some nice & shining red paint underneath it
I will start working on the removal of the interior soon to check the body in detail.

Well,... since the car looks rebuildable to me, I am looking at the options of rebuilding it, parting it out or sell it as it is (but without the engine).
I already have a tempting offer for the car less engine.
If I part it out, you'll be the first to know about the seats !
In fact, I think even the seats could be saved with a lot of cleaning.

I have no idea what price to look at for something like this and maybe I could be interested for the whole thing.

Just let me know...

If you decide to part it out, let me know as I might be intrested. Buying the whole car is no option at all though

Thanks for the photo's...
I have to be honest, I have never seen an FD in that kind of condition.....I'm glad you think it's rebuildable, but it sure will take a lot of effort.

I am very interested to hear here the out come of the motor (9 yrs. is a long time) and what more you find once you inspect it closer.

Notice, it must of been a good hit to turn the steering wheel to the right.
