What do you mean ?
There is nothing wrong with the steering nor the steering wheel.

The car was parked in the harbour in front of a container.
A truck drove into the rear at low speed and the car was pushed into the corner of the container. Something was on top of the container and it fell onto the windshield.

Remote keyless entry

Does anyone with a Euro-FD have this kind of remote ?
http://users.pandora.be/multirotor/f...s/P1010031.JPG

I am wondering if there is some kind of alarm that I should take into account when trying to bring it back to life.
I have hooked up a battery and when I turn on the ignition, nothing happens.
(really nothing, no click, no warning lamps, no smoke :-)).

Found no time to check fuses yet but maybe some of you guys have the same system and can fill me in.

Well looking at your pictures. It looks like the front wheels are straight (sitting on the ground) but the steering wheel is turned pretty good to the right. So, if the steering rack is fine...that's great.
That also answers my air bag question...Thanks

I have never heard of a factory remote for a FD alarm system but you can see it's a aftermarket alarm trigger located next to the driver fender

Thanks for the hint ! Talking about attention to detail !
Don't know about the steering wheel but steering was pretty easy while pushing it into the garage.
The car has had an accident prior to this accident (right fender and hood were repainted).

My alarm is also aftermarket and I remember the seller of my car tell me that Mazda did not offer an alarm on the car. And he had an aftermarket alarm placed to protect his 50.000€ car.

All I know from my alarm (VV type alarm) is that my keybundle had a key that can lock or unlock the alarm system in a keyhole under the steering wheel.

I have a small key too with a design of 3 thick slashes like /// on it.
Haven't found the keyhole yet.
But... I already have power only there is a small led on top of the steering wheel column that is flashing.
Put some oil through the sparkplugs this evening and turned it over a few times by hand.
It has compression. Then tried the starter motor and it sounds exactly like my other FD.
It didn't start but I did not expect that either. The fuel doesn't really smell like fuel anymore...
I will check for spark and put good fuel in over the weekend.

I'm glad it's not all junk, the starter motor runs fine !

Hey, we've got world's most expensive starter motor here!

After nine years, that fuel is NOT to be used anymore! It's not even to be called fuel, I guess. One of the not so nice things about cars standing so long, is the fuel residues that will be left in all lines. Should the car be restored, a replacement of the lines is not a bad idea.

Can't I just run it on straight alcohol and make few trips around the block to clear these lines ?

if you use methanol there will be very little to see: it burns with almost clear flames! it's freakin' hot though!

Found no time today to go to the garage and it looks like there will be no time to go there in the coming days.
I will keep you posted. I may even be doing a video :-)

what is a urquattro ?
I though speedworks made a typo but now frode does the same ?!
Should it be Quattro or is a urquattro something special.

The pictures of the FD with the Audi next to it were taken 3 years ago so I doubt the Audi will still be there.

It's the originator of the famed Quattro 4 wheel drive system from Audi. And that great 2.1 straight 5 engine... Hmmm
Should be OerQuattro in flemish.
Not sure if it is actually a true 'UrQuattro' or rather a GT with Quattro arches...

The Urquatro (look it up an the net) was the founder for Audi's 4x4 Quatro system today.

And the basis of the almighty shortsport quatro.

Oh well. The 2.2 version of that straight 5 found in the RS2 is a fun engine though.

Actually it's called Audi Coupe, and was only named "urquatro" once the others came. There's the "normal" coupe, and the more special version that has wider fenders etc and was basicly a homologation special for the rally cars. But the only one I really like is the Pikes Peak version
But hey, 5 pistons or not, they still go "boing-boing-boing".
