My new car
Bart, the wide-fendered one you are referring to is the S1.
The sounds they make is really great.
Can't help it, I like pistons. Actually considering buying a piston engined car in the not too distant future... sorry ;(

I like some piston cars too, but only if they have plenty of pistons. V8 is the bare minimum (Ford GT40 or a real Mustang Boss) V12 is nicer (old Ferrari's, or some Jaguars like E-type or XJ-S)
But I'd never buy one to replace any of my rotary cars. Maybe someday when I'm rich and famous (sure...) I'll buy a nice XJ-S Lister 6.0.

Found the location of the alarm key-switch in front of the left front wheel.
Drained the fuel tank and put in new fuel but hasn't started yet.
Plugs get wet and there is spark. I guess it takes a while for the bad fuel to get out of the lines (old fuel smells like paint).
Tried to measure compression but I have been having some problems wih my digital compression tester. Doesn't measure rpm nor compression strokes while I get 6 straight pulses from the engine every time.
To be continued...

I guess your right... might take sometime to clear? Not sure because you say your getting fuel.
Have you had a chance to check the fuel pressure or perhaps change the fuel filter?
It might help in eliminating possible problems....??

Zoom Zoom !
It's running !
There was a problem with the fuel pump.
I found out that I was able to start the car for a few seconds on some fuel that I "injected" through the throttle body so there was definately a problem with the fuel delivery.
I could not hear the fuel pump turning so I decided to take it out.
I measured current to the pump and there was none, which is apparently normal with the key in the ON position and the engine not running.
Because the pump was rusted and I had a new one on the shelve, I just put in the new one without testing the old pump and ... tsjkk-tsjkk-tsjkk-zoom
Don't know why I got this bad fuel on the plugs before swapping in another fuel pump but fact is that it runs now and starts every time.
Maybe the rusted pump did not supply enough pressure like Oliver said (but then the plugs would not get wet, would they ?)
It looks like the old pump did not manage to get the bad fuel out while the new one has no problem with that...
That makes one good starter motor and one good engine

I don't think you garage is crowded...I wish I had more mazda's like you (ha...jealous.. maybe one day?)
Before you started the motor. You said the fuel smelled like paint. How did the coolant look when you flushed it?
Did you run it long enough to get it fully warm up? if so, did it idle correctly?

I did not let it run for more than 15 seconds so far because there is no coolant in the engine.
I haven't actually seen a hole in the radiator but they probably did not drain it at the bodyshop so there must be a leak somewhere.
