I guess we will see how it goes. Other than a very small hole in the tuning (which will be fixed in the NY) and a little bit more work setting up the idle of the car I am 100% happy with how the Wolf is running the engine, although I have only driven it 100km so far though.
If I took my car anywhere other than Rank I would have put a Microtech in it.

The tuners I have spoken to all say that the Wolf is inconsistent, and seems to have a mind of its own.
But each to their own I s'pose, distributors are bound to knock their competition, and EMS's are all much of a muchness in essence, unless you wanna spend $1000000000000000000000000000000000000 on a Motec or Autronic or something equally upper bracket.
I dunno, i just find it strage that Pete, a Wolf distributor, with the help of Wolf representatives themselves, after spending an inordinate amount of time on your car, STILL can't get it running at full flight.
I guess I am just prejudiced against the Wolf EMS.

As with ALL programmable ECU's, if you don't know what you are doing you WILL blow the motor. If Your timing is too advanced or running too lean it doesn't matter what ECU you have, soon it's rebuild time.

The first shipment of Wolf3D 4.0's has arrived in the US. The word so far is that they are really well made, with billet cases and gold screws. Still no word on the software and boost solenoid, though. I should get mine sometime next week. Before it goes on the 20B, it's going in an NA Sport test mule to see if there are any improvements over the Wolf3D 3.0 on the dyno. I'll post pics and specs as I get them.

Hand Controller - Similar to the 3.x hand controller, but with better backlighting features and the buttons light up in red - really cool. You don't have to press the "Set" button any more to enter data, which is nice because there are 4 times as many points to set now, so anything that speeds up the process is good. I'm really hoping that I missed something, but it appears that there is no longer oxy logging on the hand controller. If this is true, then it really sucks because IMO this used to be the Wolf's main edge over the other EMS units, and now it needs to be tuned with the software like every other EMS.
I'll post a new thread in the EMS forum once we get the car running and I have a better idea of what technical changes have been made on the new unit.

What Version of the manual did you get over there? I have V1.00A and it sucks! It doesn't even include all of the feature (eg. Security) even though they work, and it doesn't explain what most of the features actually do... You have to guess at what it is from the name.

I actually thought this was a good thing because it probably means that the software will include full datalogging instead of min-max data logging. They don't have a couple the duty %, tps or oxy graphs on the hand controller either at the moment so I think that these may all be added in updates. Mine is due to receive it's first update in about 3 weeks time.

I am not exactly sure what the upgrade is, I think that it is a EPROM upgrade. I will let you know what they do to it once I get it back if you like.
You might be right about the manual. I would like it if they explained some things a bit better, telling you exactly what each feature does even if people shouldn't be playing with it. There are a lot of features which just say "this is an advanced feature" and tell you not to play with it, but don't have any explanation of what it's purpose is.

Wolf3d v4.0
I have seen, touched, and read the installation and users manual for
the new wolf. I talked to Australia today and the software has been sent
out to all of the U.S. dealers. I can't wait! I run my 74 rotor truck, that
has a 91 turbo motor in it, with the v3.1 wolf. It runs great! I have used
many different systems. They all work good if you are understand how
each one works. All seem to have there quirks. All I can say is that
wolf has made there systems very user friendly. I am also running a
completely stock 91 turbo motor at 18psi and drive it every day to work
and back. My truck also produces 278 at the wheels.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
