Vent value on PMS
I have PMS old purple and I want to understand this vent value thing.
I under stand most of it but I'm not sure.
If I change this value actulaay what I change?
is it waste gate solenoid duty cycle or prespool solenoid duty or both?
thanks

I posted a similar question. I wish to know if this feature is better left NO or YES. I know that upon initial tuning of say 10lbs... when the manual vent learn mode is "yes" you do a few WOT runs, and if you arent getting the specified boost, you turn up the manual vent settings... I'm wondering the advantages/disadvantages of leaving this thig on, or turing it off... Thanks to ANYONE who can help. I know we are old school and not up to date with Haltech or PFC, but someone MUST know how to work these bia's...

I leave it on Vent Learn.
It will learn only under WOT. You should make sure that your are reading WOT when your foot is to the floor, and not Prt H. My throttle cable had some slack in it and it would read between WOT and Prt H and would not learn/adjust the wastegate, and lead to some boost creep. But after adjusting and taking out the slack in the throttle cable it read properly and quickly learned to adjust the wastegate and I can keep the boost down to 8 lbs if I like.
I have it set at 8, 12 and 14 lbs of boost.

Thanks wade actually I checked your site already.
but that's for newer version of PMS.
what I want to do is I want to make my dawes control for 10psi(low) and just give a little vent for 12psi(med)
and 13(high).
you think is it possible?
I tried couple of different vent value and found out it change only wastegate duty cycle.so I think I can make it work..
and I left vent learn off because my PMS doesn't see WOT anyway I tried adjusting cable and TPS but no luck
If it sees WOT and It would not see IDLE so bucking like hell.so I have to learn myself!!
BTW your site is great!! I have printed whole site and keep in the car!
thanks..

Yeah, I use a dawes to set 10psi (instead of pills) and then I use the PMS to get boost higher than that.
I don't even check my PMS for WOT since I don't use Vent Learn, that is the only thing it is used for anyway (and decided weather to be in HL or WOT map, neither of which you should be doing anything with). I set the TPS advanced so barely touching the gas makes it leave the idle map, this seems to make drivability better.
Hope this helps,
Wade

That's what I want to hear!!
Can you tell me how much vent should be?
I know 9 and 10 lbs should be 0 but how about 12?
just give me rough idea.
I know it's different car to car but I got this PMS from single tur bo user so vent was all messed up so I have no idea how much it should be around.
looks like I can change from 0 to 100.
maybe your PMS is different mine is old version.
and you mentioned the new one has hex num ber and you can only add and substract on your web site.
but mine I can put any number.
thanks again..
