Question Haltech VS. Power FC

Ok, I need to choose between these two. I'm not worried about the FC Commander (rather use the laptop, unless someone out there has more experience and can reason why I need the commander as well...)

So, everyone please ad there two pennies..

Also, If you know of any good websites about the two, or of any good comparison sites........

I've used both, and the haltech is better. The wiring harness is a real bitch, however when I took my engine apart recently the original harness from all of the heat was in horrible condition. It was so bad that I had to replace it anyway, but since the haltech comes with a harness it saved me $500. Download the demo software at this site and look at the options it will offer.

If thats your attitude to it you dont deserve the power and control of a haltech anyway.........

If you do go with the haltech and ge it installed, is it easy using it after its installed? Does it require a lot of attention? Which ECU is better for a single turbo rx7 with 450+HP?

Haltech all the way, single turbo, twins, it doesn't matter. It has a large support group with many who are very willing to swap maps to get you started. It is hands down the best tool for monitoring your car and tuning.

Is HALTECH mainly used for racing?..Can i modded daily driver use HALTECH?..And to the guys with HALTECH what do you guys do when you smog your car?..do you unbolt everything and put the car back to stock then drive to the smog center??..Im very curious because i will be modding my 87TII with a purpose of using it in the street and weekend car. I know for sure that i will be going with the HALTECH route but need to know more about it.

HITMAN-
Do you have maps for my setup?..I know you are the man to talk to when it comes to HALTECH!..

Also to tune the HALTECH do i need to go to proffesional tuners to have it installed and tuned?..

A lot of racers use haltech, cause it has far more features and is more accurate than plug in type efi systems like PFC.

Yes you can pass smog with a haltech, talk to Brian D Cain about how to do it, he can be found on the haltech help list.

Cheers

in California you will not be able to get the Haltech smogged without some major hassles. If it is a street registered car in California it will need to have the stock ECU and all the associated smog equipment. the Haltech is not CARB legal so this maybe impossible to get done legally. now would the car pass the sniffer test, probably, but it would fail the visual inspection. I would check with the local smog referee in your area, any smog tech should be able to give you the number. other states only use the sniffer and some don't have smog tests, so it maybe possible to use the Haltech on street cars in other states.

I would like to see that this was done in California. unfortunately the smog laws in the US vary from state to state. without the CARB(California Air Resources Board) number for the manufacturer I don't see how this could be done in California. If it was done on the side I could see this. I said the car would likely pass the sniffer test but would fail the visual inspection. this visual inspection is what always tripps people up. if the inspector lets it go or doesn't notice something does not make it legal. I am speaking from experience a smog "fix it" ticket is a very expensive repair. I would like to see the whole process he went through to get the Haltech approved.
