FD with a Super AFC?
Hey guys -
I am new to the electronics side of modifying cars. I have a '93 Touring with a HKS DP, and HKS cat back. That is it so far. I was looking into my next mods...and was of course considering some type of ECU modification.
My question is this....My only forseeable mods to the car are going to be mild...(Intake box, Y pipe, high flow twins (big maybe)...so can I get away with just using a Apex'i Super AFC? And be safe?
I don't really want to make big horsepower with the car...Maybe just around 275 at the wheels....
Also, can the Super AFC electronically control boost levels?
Thanks,
Patrick

If you stay below the fuel cut on the stock ECU and run about 10psi with stock or stock based turbos then you can do just about all the modifications you want and you won't need more fuel.
I would still suggest getting your a/f ratio checked against a wideband lambda meter at max boost in 4th gear checked every couple of modifications though to be sure.

Cool. Thanks for the responses.
I get around 11-12 psi right now with a down pipe and cat back. I don't plan on ever removing the stock mid pipe.
I am only planning on the addition of a intake..so maybe the AFC would work for me.
Keep the responses coming (you too Sweet7). I would like to hear from some people with good/bad experiences.

My suggestion would be to use a Pettit Unlimited computer WITH a APEXi S-AFC, I had a RX7 that used this setup with stock turbos and motor dynoed 333 to the wheels with bolt ons and a ND fuel pump, it worked great with great driveability and no engine failures, just gotta get on a dyno to tune the S-AFC properly, but once it's tuned you don't have to mess with it again.

Two ways to use the super afc
1. If you have an upgrade ecu, use it for fine tuning
2. If you putting larger injectors, you can use it to reduce the injector duty cycle so you will get a proper a/f ratio. You should just upgrade the secondary injectors no larger than 1200cc/min. That's the largest injector size super afc can control properly. If you upgrade the primary injectors, your idle will be too rough.
If you just want to use super afc on a stock ECU, don't bother with it. It will not work.
