which ECU should I get?

I have a 93 fd with the following:
-HKS cat back & HKS ss bov
-Enfini y-pipe
-PFS stock mount IC & PFS Cold air intake
-Greddy elbow & hard pipe kit
What ecu would you guys recommend? I might be leaving FL. soon and heading to CA. so emissions could be a problem. I do plan to do more upgrades, like down pipe, maybe a mid pipe, injectors if needed. So I think I would need something that is tuneable wouldn't I? Also would I need anything other than a ECU with those upgrades to prevent things like boost creep, or boost control? Thanks

It is probably best to get a purchase/installation/tuning package deal at your local rotary-smart performance shop. I don't think that the brand matters all that much, just as long as the shop can produce the results that you want. If you are going to Kalifornia, you may want to have a shop over there do it because they will know what is required to pass emissions.

Boost creep is caused by an inadequate wastegate, so this will only be solved by porting or replacement. Some aftermarket EMS units have boost control, while others do not. I suggest posting in the 3Gen forum to see what brand people like for your car.

Dont concern yourself with the legality of an ECU in CA if u are going to go with a MP anyway. Only way u'll pass is to pay someone off, with either a good standalone or MP (same goes with a DP, it's not legal anyway). Heck I saw someone fail smog for a blow-off valve.
You might want to hold off on modifications until after you've moved to CA. Because when you bring an out of state vehicle I think it needs to be inspected by someone (I forget who).

I am in the military so I can keep the FL. plates. So that should help. So what ecu do you guys recommend? And what are the pros and cons of the different ones out there?

What do your Techs know how to work with?

I've heard a lot of good things about PFC .... Haltech is outta the question if you want to pass smog. AEM i'm not too sure about, it just seems to have a bunch of features that have no real use. (to me anyways) PFS dunno, doesn't seem too user friendly (unless you have a gauge for everything on your car.

I'm going with a PFC at the end of summer, once my new engine is broken in. I have similar mods ...

If you don't have any ambiion to go single turbo ... you could just get your stock ecu remapped by M2 or pettit. But once it's done ... it's done. You can't tune it afterwards ...

Hope this helps, and i encourage someone with more knowledge to chime in.

Good Luck
