Dyno tuning books?

I just spent the last hour looking for any resource that explains the ins and outs of dyno tuning, and came up empty handed. I realize that I'm not going to be pro by reading a book, but I want to be able to tell if the guy I hire is full of it or not. I also want to be able to ask the right questions to get the results I'm looking for. And yes, eventually I'd like to tune my car myself. Please, point in the direction of real information, not lists or ads, or "I CAN DO IT"s. Thanks.

Well, everyone on the east coast must be at dinner, and the west coasters better be out driving, so I'll check back later. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like this info.

There is no such that that I can recall (someone needs to write one!), but it's more knowledge of theories in modern engine and fuel injection control systems applied to high performance engine tuning.&nbsp You'll need to understand how fuel delivery and ignition timing spark affects works and affects engine operation; ignition timing is one of those most closely guarded secrets of engine tuning.&nbsp SAE has some very good books on modern engine control systems, but it's very technical content!

Technical is good. I like reading straight forward, informative stuff. Any suggestions on where to start?

I've browsed through this one, and it covers a lot of fuel delivery and ignition timing theory...

The Bosch system book is pretty good too, although a bit narrowed in focus...

Thanks man. I'll have to pick them up with my next pay cheque.

I saw your post in the ecu forum today, sorry to hear your out of work. I just found work after two months, not as long, but I sort of understand what you must be going through. Since you do this stuff professionally, perhaps you'd consider co-authoring a book with me. Since you're the expert, say 70% you, 30% me on the ownership. I'm a pretty talented writer, and with all the technology no trave would be neccessary. Any way, send me an e-mail and we can talk further if you're interested. kristopher_d@hotmail.com
