Suspension
So i got some new suspension from a friend for $200. kyb struts with 8 way dampning. and tein springs.
basicaly the springs are only 1" lower. My question is if i were to cut the springs to drop it more what kind of affect would it have aside from lowering.
keep in mind my front stiffness is 3 out of 4 and my rear is 8 out of 8. so theres not much give anyways. but i would like it to sit a bit lower maybe an inch or 2. let me know if you guys can tell me the pros and cons and if its just stupid. i normaly wouldnt cut teins but theyre just the springs and only run about 200+ dollars...

there was a set of hks coilovers forsale for like 275? would be good for the fronts atleast
Edit: never mind looks like the guy already sold them. Tein springs are really good. I had a set on tokico blues and I actually loved them. Great for just driving around and felt great while drifting too. I say if you want lower get some coilovers.

The springs won't get weaker if you cut them, they get stiffer. The problem is cutting the spring lowers the car more than the stiffer spring can handle to keep the car off the bump stops. You can cut a spring so far that there is not enough of it left to hold the weight it is asked to hold and fit where you want it. If the car hits/rides the bump stops you will have shitty handling.

you dont have to have coilovers if you have those strust and lowering springs. just get a ground control coil overs kit with some camber plates and make your own ....your already half ways there and you can lower your car without saving another grand for coilovers. my friend is runnin hachi roku(ae86) with kyb agx with eibach lowering springs with ground control coilovers and t3 camber plates and his car rides smooth, drifts smooth and is dropped to where he has zero wheel gap and he still has more lowering ability to tuck his wheels. i think tein lowers more than eibach so you can probabaly lower your car a good amount.

do not waste your time on ground control coilover kit. those things are ******* stupid and a waste of money. someone gave me a set a few years ago and i still havent touched them. save for an entry level coilover or used name brand like hks tein jic or kei office.
and im not even sure how you could run a stock spring and a ground control kit at the same time on the same strut since you have to modify the strut to install the "kit".

well its all up to you if you want to go the gc way or entry level coilovers. idk how it will be on a fc because one you have to install the kit right and on after market struts and springs or else it is a stupid idea. my friend with the gc set up is running it on a hachi and has had them for three years without any problems what so ever so i guess it works perfect on hachi's and not so well on fc or you guys did them wrong.
and elitetunerz sorry i cant tell you how to do them, my friend had them done before i met him. im sure just cuting and welding the sleeves to the strut, but i will tell you his hachi runs smooth and handles better than other friends running tein and megan on their gay s13s. his hachi is a daily drifter(yes daily driven and drifted lol) and he also adjusts for touge runs and autox events. so if done right GC set up can work, and it is better than just running struts and springs but probably wont have as much potential as real coilovers like hks, stance or jic.
