is stock turbo enough for drifting? go big or go home?
My only recommendation: lear how to drive, then have fun drifting; attend as many auto-x sessions as possible to get to know your car and you'll see how much fun the entire 'driving' sport is. You don't need much power to do it.
Now get out there and have fun.

well, it is fun... idk why it is so hated here lol it is a good way to drive hard off the street and get to learn your car and learn from other drivers. If you want to drift then indeed go to drift events but many of the japanese and us drivers have either an autox or ghymkana (sp) background before starting to get into drifting... makes sense to me since you get accostumed to your vehicle better than just going to drift events... now this is imho, not to contradict anyone else
just cause they did it doesn't always mean you should do it.....
thats like saying......
"dude did you see what they did in that 2 girls 1 cup video??????"
"yeah bro we should do it too"
do what you gotta do to drift, not what everyone else is doing

even tho this thread has been beaten into the ground in all honesty, driving an underpowered car will help you develop skills (no matter what anyone says: sliding an underpowered car does take skill to recover quickly) and as long as you carry those skills along with you when you do end up upgrading, and realize that the car is going to respond differently, you will be fine.
just start out stock and do keep an eye on your heat levels. have fun and be safe. then when you want more power start dumpin money into it and dont mash on the throttle so much!

so my car's been turboswapped for some time now and i got alot of drifting in with it. stock turbo is good enough. can do high speed initiations and pull through the drift nice. can do some reverse initiations and pretty much..... stock turbo is good enough.
i'll post up some vids sometime
