Sponsors
Well I have been out of this game for a really long time, but because this section gives me the slightest bit of gleaming hope that everyone retarded has left the drifting thing I would like to compete again. This means that I will be hunting down sponsors again, of course my main concern is a tire sponsor. So just who is looking for new talent these days around the east coast lol.

Sponsors are really hit or miss. It comes down to the companies marketing section and thier budget. There are some deals to be had you just have to play polotics. I will say if you are not a consistent driver the sponsorships will not last. My biggest problem is that the car has been down for a long long time and Sponsors have moved on because I elected to just take a break and get the car straight again.

I have done marketing for both sides of the coin. As a competitor and for the company for the judges HIN/Night shift and many other shows.
Its not easy to come by. Most companies have small budgets to play with when it comes to marketing. On top of that, You HAVE to give them something that is viable for their company and drives new customers to them. (In essence)
SEMA is probably one of the better places to work potential sponsors, and at least get your face and info to them. Most companies are really there to SELL their product so to get a contract durning that week is not a reality.
I could ramble on with this, but I DO make money from proposal creations and marketing so I cant give all my info away.

best way to to work yourself up to a sponsorship is to get yourself known in your area.
go to all the events, shows, and meets you can and get exposure. a sponsorship is advertising. if they see your car getting a lot of exposure they will most likely contact you to sponsor you.
i go to all my local drift events, but i got a sponsor by putting my car in a car show that i took as a joke. the guy came up to me and was interested in my car because he sees it everywhere.
start small and work your way up to a big sponsorship. big brands can build their own cars.

I had several sponsors in 2005, including a tire sponsor, all my entries were paid, parts for the car were given etc etc. I still spent Several thousand dollars from my own pocket just getting to and from the events. Not to mention the time need from work and being tired as hell. If and when the car breaks you will be out money to repair it and time to do the repairs before the next event. Getting and keeping major sponsors will require a lot.

not koncking your sponsors so don't take this the wrong way. I think alot of guys are in similar situations and its cool. I have similar deals here and we work out of our shop so things are cheaper etc etc but that is just not gonna cut it to do Formula D.

I get free tires from local dealerships but i really think that sponsors would help with entry fees and possibly gas money between trips. And repairs would be awesome too cause too much **** could go wrong on the track.
