Here I sit broken hearted, tried to drift but only...

Dear OP;

This subject has been conversed through the history of time, if not time itself.
First and first mostly, be safe; try to get a "feel" in a safe environment where no one can get hurt and where you won't have to explain to the police why you hit a sign because you saw something in the road and accidentally accelerated instead of braked... but I digress.

Read some more. You got this!

You dont need camber. Replace your drivers seat with something proper and go drive.

If you would consider asking a question like that about camber plates, you're better off just driving hard. Worry about mods LATER. Like.....much later. You are not ready young jedi.

Maybe I've been hanging out in this section too long now, but this thread is definitely making me want to drift my track FC when I get it running. I never thought I would be that interested in drifting before.

I think drifting is more technical then auto x personally, and its really fun. instead of trying to shave seconds off your time, you are trying to initiate better, get more angle, hit clipping points.

So your saying a race seat is more important then camber plates on a FC?

god yes.

instead of getting thrown around, you can focus LESS on holding on to the car, and focus MORE on driving it.

i didnt have camber plates until a month ago. they are good, but not needed to learn.

Seriously? That's just weird to me. The only reason I even put my racing seat in was because I got such a good deal on it. My TII seat kept me firmly planted with no problems at all.

then you weren't driving hard enough. stock seats suck.

the faster and more aggressive you drive the more you notice "hanging" on to things whether it be, being late with steering input because you're trying to hold on to the wheel, or spreading your legs against the outer bolsters to not slide around.

seating position is one of the key factors in drifting. if you're not comfortable IN the car, you won't be comfortable driving the car at it's limits.
i'm sure there are a few dudes who could vouch for this.

Stock seat is fine if you have a good 5pt harness but I agree. Stick seat and stock seatbelt is Hell

2 of my best purchases have to have been my seat and steering wheel. Being comfortable is def a plus.

Yeah I bought a new steering wheel for it, the one that was on it had a flat bottom, and I hate it. Its a nice deep dish ebay steering wheel, I think it look sexy haha

i've never used an Ebay dish wheel, but yea, steering column through your body would be gay if harness/seat rails failed in crazy impact.

i'm surprised my flat faced Mazdaspeed wheel hasn't bent yet from all the crashing i do...

Yes. Unless you like flying all over the place or are a fat ******* sow of a human being and just happen to wedge yourself in place with your own gluttony/thyroid issues....

Within 5 minutes of testing it i noticed an improvement with my focus and overall driving and that was WITHOUT a seatbelt. I need to break down and order a 4 point atleast.... 3 point will probably chop my head off in the event of a crash as it's low mount bolted to the floor and the belt sits right against my neck.

I punched the living **** out of my ebay dish wheel and bent it into a pringle shape. Dont buy those.

safe racer has Gforces for like $150 shipped for brand new 5pt camlock harness setups. verious colors.
don't skimp on your life man. i can honestly say i've wrecked enough times wearing/not wearing seatbelts, and the 5pt harness/seat was almost as good as getting coilovers. i dont even know how many times i've been saved from getting knocked out by my cage.

get a legit (minimum) 4pt harness. 5pt harness is needed to pass tech though. i never use the 5th one, unless i'm sketched out on the surroundings. haha

mount that wheel and lean on it. i bet it bends with hardly any effort at all. too scary for me. my safety is worth more than a 30$ steering wheel.

Coilovers, diff, and seat. Just make sure everything else(brakes, fluids, etc.) are maintained and you are good to go
