george's FC drift build. blowing upbody kits

I've been lurking on this forum for a long time but decided to finally start posting. I already know a few guys in the community but I typically have stayed to smaller forums. So here goes.

I drive an FC. It's low. Has a V8. And I do a lot of smashing.

The story begins 4 years ago when I got tired of drifting 240's and wanted to get an FC. So I got rid of my old crappy 240 and got an FC!

Original plan was to put an SR in it and keep it mild.

That lasted all of about 12 minutes.

First up, gut the car and build a chassis dolly.

2nd, test fit S14 dash(stock FC one looks like it came from an IROC camaro).

Start the roll cage

Purchase LS

Keep working on cage

Then some shiny stuff came in

1st real event with the car. 2009

Decided I needed more caster so I machined me a new upper mount.

Then started running XDC 2010. Went to irwindale and did this. Bent the chassis but kept drifting anyway.

Lost to Brian Peter. And got like 5th or something.

Wen to RD2 in Vegas. Got 3rd.

I drove like a billion local and socal events after XDC. The started prepping the car for 2011.

2011 Prep. Step 1, buy cool wheels.

Check.

Step 2. fix the front end after the irwindale crash forever ago.

Check.

Step 3. Take it to Elevens Paint And Fiber to have them do a TON of awesome work.

XDC Irwindale 2011!

Got 3rd place. Blew the steering rack in friday practice and tried to fix it with the help of JTP. Unfortunately the pump also blew. Ended up drifting Irwindale with no power steering. SCARY!

I was still scraping walls tho.

Then went to XDC Phx. Ended up winning the event after a final battle with Alex Pfieffer!

Then I bought something I've ALWAYS wanted.

Shortly after headed up to XDC seattle. Blew up my clutch and missed all of practice. Ended up getting taken out by Walker Wilkerson.

http://vimeo.com/27888265

Still had enough points to win XDC West Coast Championship.

Somewhere in there I also did the Vegas Pro-Am and got 1st in that series which gives me my FD license for 2012.

Which brings us to 2 months ago and XDC Finals in TX.

Car felt amazing in friday practice.

Then saturday the motor decided to hate the rod bearings and ate them up.

I qualified with another locals car(Aaron Losey) and was set to do top 16 when his alternator crapped out. 2 separate cars I had towed off the track that weekend. Ended up in 2nd place behind Chelsea Denofa. I was 1st in points going into TX but you have to actually drive the event to keep the lead. Sadly my car didn't want to play along so I got 2nd. It was super fun tho and I love drifting with the XDC dudes wholeheartedly.

Which brings us to now. I have a non-sunroof 86 base model that is going to become the new 2012 FD car. Hopefully I can have some fun in FD. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings!

<3's and puppies,
George

Isn't Texas awesome?! haha

That is rad that Aaron let you borrow his car for the event. He puts on all the Texas drift events and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

CONGRATS!

So some people have been asking me what the cars setup is so I'll list it out here.

Anywhere you see "custom" means I made it myself. haha

1987 FC TII

Exterior(most important):

Duraflex BN body kit
Duraflex 30mm front overs
MSport 50mm rear overs
Aluminum vert hood with BN type vent
DCW rear roof wing
Elevens Oxygen Blue paint

Interior:

Bride Zeta III seats(FIA)
Sabelt harnesses
Nardi Deep Corn steering wheel
Stack ST8100
S14 dash
Custom "painless" style wiring throughout
10pt roll cage

Suspension:

KSport GT Pro coilovers with 9k front and 5k rear
Custom upper camber/caster plate
Mazdatrix threaded rack spacers(2x)
Custom out tie rod ends
Custom knuckles
Custom bashed in frame rails for wheel clearance
AWR rear camber adjusters
Custom OEM center camber link shortened
DTSS elimn
Custom toe rods

Engine/Drivetrain:

2001 LS1/T56
LS6 intake
Poorboy longtubes
Dual 3" to single 4" exhaust
AFCO dual pass radiator
MAST fuel rails
Aeromotive FPR
Custom fuel hardlines
Melling oil pump
Improved racing baffle
Comp cams timing chain
MAP tuned, probably makes 320-330whp.
SPEC Stage 4 clutch with alumn pressure plate and alumn flywheel
Corvette C4 driveshaft
Tomei Trax 2 way

Wheels/Tires:

17x9 -19 Panasport C5C2
215-40-17 Falken RT615k
18x10.5 +0 Panasport C5C2
265-35-18 Falken RT615k

That's about it I think. 2012 car will have a stereo system and a huge GT wing and probably be even lower. I'll also be playing with a ton of susp stuff in the future and probably offering it for sale if anyone wants this stuff.
