Heres what the car looks like now after i finished painting it, next to my bike that actually got a professional (mexican) paint job:

Yes that is spray paint on the FD but to compare, this is what my spray skills were like in '07 on my S14. i would say ive gotten a lil bit better:

im not happy with any of the shops in El Paso as far as paint and body, plus i have a little bit of an issue with the way these body shops do buisness here.

That and i wasnt gonna spend uber money on a paint job for something that has a chance of hittin a wall.

Ah I see; I wouldn't give my 7 to any shady shop either. What about vinyl wrap though?

I looked into vinyl wrap in the future. Im still playing around with design ideas and the most rediculous color scheme i can think of. so its on the back burner.

i get weird looks in parking lots, kind of the same looks those of you get with welded diffs. but it takes skill to not have that super jerky motion.

But at the end of the day, clutch slip is the LAST thing on my mind and i love that.

i dont mind the VR at all. But i had an R1 wing in Brilliant Black, front fenders in original VR, and the rest of the car was a cheap respray with a more orange VR. One solid color is beter than three seperate in my opinion.

plus im just doing something different. ive been doin Red/Black for a minute now, so now im goin with the Flat Black/Lime Green. just having fun with it.

i dont know man.. i think slightly varying hues of gloss red are way better than dry spotted and streaky circa 2003 flat black rustoleum.

its your car though so good luck.

Its at EPT Motorsports in El Paso, TX. they are helping me with this stuff due to my lack of facilities to be able to break it down. Im doing all the suspension work at the DIY shop on post since that stuff is pretty straight forward. This is my first rotary so i wanted a show with expeirience to help me learn the ins and outs of the motor in this beast.

And the best part about this whole thread is everyone seems to be hating on the paint choice. While paint is a pretty important part of a build, id rather focus on my motor and suspension setups to be dialed in and operating perfectly BEFORE i spend money on a rediculous paint job

ihavetwins, im confused as to what your asking.

I have a theory that is escalating and I think you further escalated it by flat blacking your beautiful FD. This theory goes and is this : " Most FD owners should not own an FD"

^^^^

Cool story bro. Like i said, if people can truly only find the paint as the problem, then visit my thread in about 14 months when i have a paint job that fits your approval.

ive got a saying too that you really help me solidify "Some FD owners are too self righteous to understand individualist ideas" You really think the first FD LS was welcomed with open arms. Cmon man, lighten up.

Here is the beast on the XXR's i picked up off of Zilvia....seem to fit pretty nice but i think im gonna throw the saleen reps out back still to keep it lookin different.

Engine bay shot. Got the rats nest out, still lookin to get the harness worked out but that cant be too hard. Picked up 1000cc primary injectors with the rail to match. Wideband is in the mail, so really all that im missing in the end is some sort of a Datalogit. i think i can hold off for now.

Oh yea, finally got my Herro Japan parts, some Super Now tie rod ends and URAS steering rack spacers. Its all in the suspension....

TX

Got the 35R clocked and mounted, as well as doing the ABS Delete with Proportioning Valve courtesy of Alex Rodriguez... I cant believe how much weight that ABS system was and how simple it was to install the kit. Im so glad i was able to pick one up before he stoped making them!

Next on the list is to finish the harnesss, get the downpipe modded to accept the Wideband, and then rebuild! hopefully we can get it running before the 4th!

Shes back together, i will get a shot up in the next day or so. The only thing stopping us from starting her is a silicone elbow from the turbo to the IC piping. Fuel system was built and plumbed up last week, and the tuner is comin into town somewhere over the weekend. Work has been draggin this build on, but by next week we should be destroying some tires and streching her legs
