Probly the 13b-re cause it has more power. Gonna be more pricey going for the 13b-re though, there would be nothing wrong with the t2 engine.

Less to do with engine and more to do with chassis and suspension. Either would be good.

Agreed. And if your not running a ton of boost (such as 20+psi) then youd be fine anyway. It would help if you tell us your budget because unless you have a pretty deep pocket you are going to be serious trouble very quickly eithor way. Also, if you have the proper injectors for you boost setting and a good tune, you will have virtually no problems. For example, I have a SP T2 at stock boost putting down 210rwhp and 190rwtq and it has a proper tune. While Im tracking it I have no problems at all drifting.

Note: I have full suspension on my car as well.

Do your homework and you will decide on yourself which application will suit your needs and budget.

haha well yeah like the other guy up top posted it doesnt really matter which engine just make sure you got good suspension setup and etc, you know how a lot of people drift the 86 corrola etc, that car isnt fast at all its got like 112 hp, prolly around like 90 to the wheels, it just handles like a monster. theres a rx drifting specific forum on here, maybe it would be wise to post up there?

if it were me id say go n/a 13b, gut the interior, get the typical performance mods, beef up that suspension, etc etc

plus getting the fd motor i dont believe its a direct fit so that cost you a little bit more, plus that twin turbo business thats $$ right there

Drifting isn't about power.

It's about suspension setup.

Blow your money on a good set of fully adjustable coilovers, like Stance or Moton.

This thread just reminded me...

What do you think would be a better engine for my skyline? Gallo 12 or a Gallo 24?

Neither...

In fact, sad to say, this is where a normally aspirated engine would make it easier to drift.
Since the chassis and weight likes around 300 - 350hp at the wheels, a *SIGH* V8 swap would be more efficient...

(I can't believe I said that...)

lol i could actually feel your pain as you were typing... i can't believe you said that either.

so as not to be off topic, build a reliable motor and dump all your time/money researching suspension

It's simple. Drifting is the easiest when you have an engine setup capable of generating lots of midrange torque.

Assuming you have the suspension for it, the setup that generates the highest, but most linear powerband in the midrange is the one you want to go with.

ok i guess i will rephrase the question sooo i can consume some info

who uses a 13bre engine in their drift set up
have you had a t2 prior?

basically i just want other peoples perspectives on the 2 engines

i know its not mainly about the engines and more the suspension

but aside from that im just not all 100% on the engine swap i want to do
and i just want to make sure i do the right thing for the drift specs

Do you even know the differences between the s4 and s5 t2 and the RE? It's not like the RE has a special drift apex seal that is going to make you drift better. O.o

Throw any 13b engine in there, get a fast spooling turbo so you can have a broad power range, and go drift. Time on the track will help you more than anything. I have drifted a s4 t2, s4 NA-T, and 13b-re, it doesn't matter.

/end useless thread

swap in a RE if you're very rich.
I would only swap a FC engine in a FC though.
or a 20B
But drifting isn't about engine power anyways, so yeah ...strange thread
