RI **Best turbo setup***

im currently building a drift car its an 86 turbo2, im tryin to find the best turbo kit for drifting. im lookin to make around 400whp but trying to have a low spool point. a 57mm looks to be the best way to go but i just want to be sure.

P.S. dyno sheets would be great!!

Holset hx40, hks manifold.

Upgrade your injectors and fuel pump and run some sort of stand alone. MSNS is cheap. Finding somebody to tune that and a rotary is going to be a bit of a job for you though.

Ditch the top mount intercooler and look into either a v-mount or front mount. V-mount requires either a vent in your hood or an aftermarket hood. The pros of this setup is your intercooler is safer from front end impact and you can run shorter piping.

the v mount also causes shorter throttle response due to shorter piping.

I have a 13BRE with stock intake ports and some home ported exhaust. GT35R T4 ar1.00 maxboost at 3100RPM Great spool, respons, etc..
Vmount is a safe way to secure the ic, but i ended up with the oil coolers in front so whats the point?
You wont feel the difference in throttle response! Just think how much air an engine use compared to how many L a ic-system is!

I can't argue with ya.

Intercoolers and piping are pretty pricey, especially if they're custom peices. They might not cost alot of money depending but the work involved cutting tubing and test fitting, cutting some more, tack welding, test fitting some more...... It would be a shame to trash that.

However, if you do smack your oil cooler on something and immediately shut your car down there is the possibility of hurting the motor depending on how hot you're running it but it beats losing the whole engine due to oil loss.

Hmm. This calls for another thread. I'm tired so i'm not going to even bother with it today.

i have a non BB T04R with a 1/2 bridgeport and an oversized 4 core front mount
people always tell me to run a smaller turbo for better response. i/you dont need it.
adapt and overcome...

You shouldn't be drifting under 5k anyway. LOL!

People have different preferences though. It's not really THAT big of a deal and you're right, adapt and overcome. Change your driving up and if that doesn't work, then play with the car some.
