I do love that you were able to keep the logo, how did the template allow you to do that? Did you have to remove and reinstall the logo or what?

Yes the Nardi logo pulls out easily. it anchors back in the rubber once you tuck the leather in. Same idea as the horn buttons on the OEM FD wheel only they are mounted with a screw.

What most people don't realize is that any leather wrapped steering wheel was assembled by hand at the factory. most wheels are designed to be re wrapped without the use of special machines or tools. kind of makes this a little easier on me haha.

Photos for Ryan

FD OEM Steering wheel and Shift ****

This is the first OEM FD wheel I have recovered. With the large are curves in the spokes and the horn buttons this one was a challenge. Took a few attempts and some major adjustments to the original pattern to get it just right.

Very happy with this one. Can't wait to wrap my OEM wheel.

Hope you like it Ryan.

Enjoy!

The snow is melting, summer is just around the corner and it will soon be time to break out the FD. I was bored yesterday evening and decided to redo my interior with red stitch. Here are a few photos:

All we need to do is find a way to get the stock 5 speed pattern in the leather.
Wonder if it could be branded in.

Hi All,

Thought I'd post a few photos of the wheel I covered in my MKV Jetta. This wheel was not previously leather covered. I had to trim away a nice bit of material to cover the leather ends on the spokes. In the leather version of this wheel (same shape & size) there would be removable plastic covers next to the airbag. They are molded rubber & part of the wheel. There was a nice line with a beveled edge that I took advantage of and tucked the leather neatly under where I had cut.

I took as many photos as I could during the whole process to give you an idea of some of the steps involved in covering a wheel which was not previously leather covered.

I added the suede band on the top for a little customised look. I wasn't sure at first but it's kind of growing on me. Not very often I get to do something for myself . Turned out great!

Thanks! I'm loving it. The Suede band is in a great spot and provides an excellent grip.

Excited to see your photos.
