I still haven't forgotten about the tutorials I mentioned. I've been away for work for what seems like forever now. When I get back I have a few more projects to work on such as a few shift ***** and a couple of shift boots. I also have a steering wheel waiting to be covered at home, just came in the mail. Great candidate for a turtorial...

I will take more detailed pictures and try to explain them the best I can.

Thanks everyone!!

In case anyone doesn't want to give up their stock steering wheel and the ability to drive their car...I have a couple for sale CHEAP that you could then ship to this gentleman for his excellent work.

An excellent idea! And, if they're not in bad shape might be a great replacement without recovering.

What are you asking for these? PM if you prefer...

Would you be willing to recover an 85 GSL-SE steering wheel and shift ****? I'll pay.

Sorry I never got around to posting this here sooner... Here is some of hulanfd3s' handy work

He did my shift **** for me. I have since replaced both shift boot and e-brake boot with some quality black leather pieces.

how difficult would it be to attempt this on a 10th AE shift boot? It seems to be only one piece of vinyl for the **** and the boot.

Hey there,

I guarantee you, the boot is made from vinyl, but the **** is covered with leather. It would be impossible to cover the **** with vinyl as it would tear with every pull of the thread.

Once you have the leather cut out and holes punched it's actually quite easy to stitch it on. As for the boot, this can be made from vinyl using the original pattern and simply sewed together on a sewing machine.

If you like, I can recover your **** and boot. Jost PM me.

Thanks,

Hulan

Just thought I'd post a few pictures of a recovering job I did on a friend's shift **** from his '08 Z06. He chose red which matches the factory seat stitching instead of the factory black.
