Other than I'm about to hit an oil change and maintenance interval, I'm good to go. So fresh oil, transmission, and differential fluids this weekend along with new plugs and wires and I'm good to go.

I'm ready, the FD (and FC) are both still running great, and all of my usual pre-trip maintenance is done! My challenge this year is figuring out how to pack my tools, car cleaning kit, 2 folding chairs (for the banquet/raffle) and luggage for me & my girlfriend into the FD's limited cargo hold. Since we're staying a few extra days down there, we have a bit more stuff to carry, but it all fits! Just did a "test pack" yesterday to make sure the hatch will close

^ I will be doing that this weekend. Always a balancing act on how much stuff to bring on a trip like this. Thankfully 81 goes through/past enough towns with walmarts etc that if you really get in trouble supplies aren't terribly far away

I wonder if the FD or my rx3 has more cargo space? the rx3 is pretty small and with the bigger fuel tank, the trunk is almost useless to carry anything. Thats why i drive my truck and trailer the car!! lol

I'd imagine the FD & RX3 have similar cargo volume measurements, but I think the RX3's more rectangular trunk shape and a more useful back seat area means you can cram more stuff into one than an FD. The shape of the hatch window really limits what you can fit in an FD.

Went ahead and booked Sunday and Monday at the Stonebrook Lodge along with my original reservations. The FC is ready (bucket secured), and I will be heading out tomorrow. Yes Nick, I will be drooling on your car again this year along with Pete's FD.

Live in Waxhaw and want to convert stock 79 to header exhaust, any recommendations of anyone to install?

Only FD parts from me. I had a few requests for RX3 parts, but I need to finish what I want for my own car before taking requests for others.

started up with no grinding sound and no fluid leaks. Was a little shaky for 15-20 seconds then smoothed out and idled fine. So excited!

You still have points in your dizzy too? You want to get the RacingBeat SP setup from the header all the way back. It will wake that thing up. We should get a RX-7 meet going in Charlotte. Find me at the dam photo shoot Friday or the show on Saturday. Do you go to the Waxhaw Cruisers C&C ever? I go to that sometimes and also the RockHill one.

The installation is easy if you get a bolt on like from RacingBeat otherwise you will be looking at something being built. Also, almost any other headers and exhaust setups you can find out there will not hold up to the rotary exhaust heat. Thats why we all use the RacingBeat stuff, its thick and handles the heat.

Um... as it so happens I have an electric distributor setup for HEI's or just a direct fire. I'll bring it with me. I built it for a customer who didn't want it.

Blew the right front tire on the FC near Crossville, Tn. on the way back. No damage but had to overnight to get another tire. Maybe I should have taken it easier on the Dragon? Naah! That can't be it. Thankfully it didn't blow while on the Dragon.
