Thread that Newbies MUST read

So everyday I come on this site there is a new rx7 owner asking the same damn questions!
They are lazy and do not search on topics and I am sure this is using up valuable space on your server. I can understand that they are excited about being the proud owner of an RX7 but shouldnt they at least research it without wasting ours and your time?

The type of questions are:
What oil should I run
What mods can I do
How often do I need to do a service
so on and so forth.

I am sure you are aware of the type of questions they are constantly asking.

Is there a way that you could put a thread up that is always in bold for newbies or make it so they can only view that thread first off?

It would save a lot of abuse from current users like myself (not that i abuse them) that get frustrated with the same threads everyday.

Thats my vent over.

Welcome to 3 years ago. There are threads that newbies must read, it's the FAQ. Now if the person decides to read them is their choice.

Your best thing to do is ignore it, I have been ignoring it for over 3 years now.

It also states about using the search function in the main rules that all members acknowledge when they first join.

There are also stickies at the top of all of the specific gen sections that give the rules of the sections and guides on using the forums.

Like rowtareh stated, they are there, it's the members choice whether the read them or not. :-)

It's a hard lesson to learn: guide/teach, rather than chastize and subject n00bs to punishment. We discussed this at length and no matter what you can only minimize so much.

It's the same thing with the horse plus the water.

The person wants to have the knowledge, just alot of people think there is some magical brain transplant that gives them superior knowledge of rotary engines. Hell, I have been into them for over 5 years now, and I still consider myself a newbie in certain areas.

There is talks for a New Members section to be added to the forums, so look out for something along those lines in the future.

That sounds great to me!

I do not consider myself to know everything either, I am still learning but I am confident with the easy logical stuff, can look at a part pull it apart and put it back together and I can build an engine so i do have a bit of know how plus I have just done a ground up rebuild on my car.

Sounds very familiar.

yeah, this has been covered before in the suggestions section. The only advice I've received on this: Stop reading/posting and get over it. Don't question the status quo.

It is because of laziness and cowardice that it is so easy for others to usurp the role of guardians. the guardians who have kindly undertaken the supervision, will see to it that, by far the largest part of mankind, including the entire "beautiful sex," should consider the step into maturity, not only as difficult but as very dangerous.

After having made their domestic animals dumb and having carefully prevented these quiet creatures from daring to take any step beyond the lead-strings to which they have fastened them, these guardians then show them the danger which threatens them, should they attempt to walk alone. Now this danger is not really so very great; for they would presumably learn to walk after some stumbling. However, an example of this kind intimidates and frightens people out of all further attempts.

My recommendation.. .don't **** on the newbies... turn them into your students.

"Each one, ...teach one" as the saying goes.
