Me too... I asked specifically about this and got no specific answer... Now all post of our could be considered "copycat thread" material. Any thread we congregate is unacceptable or are our posts unacceptable... Id like to know just WTF is going on around here and why. Stuffs pissing me off!!! And I'm being NICE right now the way I feel about it.

I had it in pms and got a nice reply and then a thread went missing for "copycatting". A thread that yall even posted in... Thats what we do here is post. We post and talk to each other. We didn't make a stink when BAW was deemed unacceptable for less reason than other threads all over the place by only a few members.

I would like to formally request an open and explicit reasoning behind all this. I have been a member with many post in this lounge and to varying degrees. I MAYBE have recieved 1 warning in my time here. many other members that participated in BAW were like me.

This is no longer about BAW but rather our acceptance here. BAW was closed and buisiness went on as usual for the most part considering the degree of feeling some of us had for it. Pretty underhanded of you to go back and edit the sticky to fit your needs after you even post in such "copycat threads" showing your silent unobjection. A couple of us even asked what was ok to post in light of the change.

So, in closing, what changes were made around here and why are we at risk of having threads that we post in dissapear for the sake of fabricated similarity to a closed thread. A change that we accepted and moved on from.

Now I dont care about BAW or if it ever opens as you have tainted it for me/ maybe others. The people of BAW and what it used to MEAN made a signifigant difference to a number of trying times in my life. The people that were involved with that I like to maintain communication with as well as people that frequent threads of such a nature of comraderie and freindship. Many of us Including yourselves have benifited and made freinds with even face to face meetings and possibly lifelong friendships.

Tell me this is no longer acceptable and I will sign off for the last time. That is not to be treatening as I know im a drop in the bucket here but it means that much to me. I think this is a little more than an over reaction to a mole hill. I go now as I'm skaking to bad to type...

my opinion on this is that there are some of us that are on here more than others and some of us on here are legitimately friends.

that being said its is only natural that we will gravitate toward the same threads. and as in EVERY thread in the lounge. or on this forum anywhere threads go off topic.

i fully understand why BAW was closed till Aug but point remains no one was trying to recreate the thread. its just one of those things. we will all end up in the same threads and they will inevitably go off topic.

so.....is every thread that we post in going to be deleted?

I mean look at threads like "got a new avatar" its 5 pages of nothing. why is that thread ok?

+1! Yeah i am not thrilled with this at all either. I didn't even mention BAW in that thread i made that was just deleted. I know it was just a bullshi/ random thread but isn't that what the lounge suppose to be. Just a place to come in, take off your shoes and unwind. I know i use this forum to do just that. I have no issues with anyone but just to delete some thread that you "THINK" was a copycat thread is pretty asinine.

Just like Jenn and Josh i am confused on this as well.

Ultimately BAW is nothing more than a name. People will gravitate to discuss matters in similar threads because, well, they have nothing better to do. Short of banning people from being in the same thread as each other, I don't really see the sense in it. A great point was brought up re: mods/admins partaking in the thread. Why the issue now? That's asked with sincere interest, rather than pointed anger or other such nonsense.

 

Moved but no reply? Why isnt this loung material as it has everything in the world to do with the lounge?

I was very curious myself upon noticing that the thread had vanished.

 

I can say that the acronym F.U.C.K., while it does not bother me any, raised a few eyebrows. As to the real reason why the thread was closed/moved/deleted or whatever, I'm unsure of. I honestly thought it was harmless, just as with any other threads of similar nature in the lounge.

It is true that we all as friends gravitate towards the same threads. I *obviously* have no problem with that. My issues were with the way BAW was going in regards to the general attitude that folks had with each other for the most asinine of reasons.

Don't worry. Things will be all good.

Id like to know what happened too. Unless something happened last night it all seemed kosher to me, we were all havin a good ol time yesterday while I was here.

As I see it, if some one has a problem with another member, sort it out via PMs, or just ignore them. Its that ******* simple.

And with the lounge and the F.U.C.K., BAW, etc. threads, I doubt they will go away completly. The names may change but as stated before, many of the lounge rats are friends and friends like to chat amongst each other be it in several unrelated threads or one common thread.

 

I moved the thread, because such a thread did belong on the Comments, Suggestions, and Issues section, not the lounge.

And I wasn't about to comment on something that I didn't do (as far as shutting down either the BAW or F.U.C.K. threads.)

Pretty straight forward on that.

 

I was surprised that the thread title didn't get changed, but still yet, you have a forum (albeit a car forum). A forum is meant to bring people together, and when that happened through BAW it is not alright, but if we were all to just post in the various other threads (most of which are uninteresting to the majority of us) we are somehow contributing more to the forum?

I can understand closing down BAW for a period of time, sure. Things did get hostile there for a spell, but it is nearly impossible to keep those who've gathered a type of bond with one another from one another. Granted I'm not one of the people who are close to a lot of the BAW members, but there are a couple out there that I'm pretty close to.

thanks for that as well. I know you guys do not "owe us"(as some say in this type situation) anything. That is not my intent here either. I have not liked some of the BAW thread titles and the F.U.C.K. while hilarious could be harmfull to peoples at work. I def dont have any problems with decent names.

The content is what i am worried about. As I stated before, and others including yourself have, it is important for many reasons most importantly the comraderie we share.

I felt like I was placated today when i realised what happened even after I made a point to SPECIFICALLY ASK about such thread content. If OOT had not created that thread, I was thinking of a similar one. I would ask to not be BS'd around. i thought I/we were being just that, BS'd. If that is not the case I digress...

 

I'm with the other folks...I am confused as all hell.

I haven't seen any real answers yet. Are we going to get any? I am none too pleased with everything being deleted. Deleting threads, whatever the problem is, isn't going to solve anything. Even if it is a bunch of whiney high schoolers having a pissing contest. Not saying that was BAW but just hypothetically. Delete the offending posts, lock the thread and leave a comment as to why it is being locked. Making it disappear with no explaination only leaves questions and smacks of facist dickators.

 

Nader, you saying that you don't know why the Kentucky thread was removed. I'll take that as a statement that you had no part in its deletion, unless you tell me otherwise.

Mark, you flat out said you did not delete it.

The way I see it, both of you are nothing if not our allies here.

If I am not mistaken, either of you gentlemen would be able to find out effortlessly who deleted it. Would both of you please find out who was responsible, contact him, and direct him to this thread?

 

Still no answers in this thread. That is odd. How many moderators does the lounge have, and how many of them is it going to take before one finally steps up to the plate and says that they did it? Now we're just playing the guessing game, and assumptions are a great way to make everyone lose trust in those we should be trusting.

me too. granted i didn't see the f.u.c.k thread. and i'm no mechanic or anything even close, so i don't generally wander into the tech sections. but i do enjoy chatting with the guys(and gals) in BAW just a bunch of people from far and wide completely different but with a common interest.

also daniel^ is getting confused without his daily dosage of ghey and that's just wrong
