Idea to fix Spam users

Alright guys, Im pretty sure you as well as I have noticed many dumb threads that spammers have started on the forum about selling phones, consoles, etc (One thread I just saw mentioned that very thing) and other bs, when It has no relevance to this forum.

Most of the time the spammers just register on the forums to post these worthless advertisements, and have no post record, and never post again.

I for one am really tired of seeing this over different forums, scammers and spammers just making threads to try and jip people.

So, I propose this, to get rid of anymore scammers/spammers.

This is an rx7 forum obviously, so how about when making a new account name, you are prompted with a general question about the car that you specifically need to know how to answer correctly in order to proceed with making your account.

I suggest a simple question, such as, "How many pistons does a factory rx8 have?"

or "what type of engine does an rx7 have?" with multiple choice answers.

Anyway, Its not really that big of a deal, but I figure its enough to ward away any scammer that would just register to post one thread.

well I think we have a section to sell misc crap, but spammers aren't bots, least none here, and some people might get some questions wrong, anyhow, they should crack down harder on scammers though.

The spammers could just spend 2 seconds on google and find out the simple questions. It may slow them down though.

Grace period seems to be the most effective solution, but from what I have read these are not the ideals the proprietors of this site are interested in.

It would be nice, especially for the people that really use this place as a resource and not just another rag of which there are so too many already.

Make it a more difficult question like, "How many ports does the Rx2 engine have from the factory?"

haha just kidding!

Who cares about them? Sure its ugly and nonsense, but if you ignore it, it goes away.

But that would ruin the lounge

But seriously New people would probably be turned away if all they could do is post in the lounge. Or they would think that all places are off topic. But the lounge WOULD get rid of the retards...

I don’t see why the “grace period” idea wouldn’t work well, anyone that has just stumbled on this place would have nothing but 99.99% old questions to ask any way, this would allow them to get to know and use the search function and the way things work around here for a while before posting the same repetitive question 2 other new people have just posted 10 minutes ago.

I am all for any change that will raise this place out of the confines and drudgery of the rest of the net.

Would love to see a “privileged members” section where some of the elite members can hash out problems and talk unfettered by another pwned=3d!11 post.

There definitely is a place for that, why can there not also be a place where it is strictly serious and informative?
