Enable thread posting in general events forum

Can someone open the main events forum for posting? There are some things I'd like to create that don't apply to the specific sub-forums listed.

Thanks!

Let me check into that... I think we wanted to keep that area locked to the specific events that attract multi-regional guests.

What events did you have in mind for adding? It will help in the consideration of opening the section versus posting the event in the standard regional section with a sticky.

I knew this was going to get asked.

Call it a think tank for new events. Since it's not region specific, and it is event planning, seemed like a logical place. Or create a new subforum called event planning. Either works so long as there's a place to do it. It's not like it's going to fill up with threads. Hell...make me a mod to keep track of it if you'd like. I own my own forum so I'm not a noob.

The RR forum was closed for whatever reason. If it was a local thing, I'd do it on my own forum anyway.

RR forum was closed because the two guys running the event hadn't been online in many months and people were just making sarcastic posts about the event. Since there hasn't been a RR event in like two years it didn't make sense to leave it open for now.

I was not questioning your judgement or line of rational thought. I could have NOT asked the question and presented the idea with absolutely no reasoning to back up my opinion except "because Railgun said so...." but I don't think that would have gotten either of us very far now would it.

Seems like the regional forum would be the logical place to create steam for such an event in my opinion but it's your request. Give it a few days since we are hovering over the New Years holiday, I don't know who is around and who isn't.

Fair enough.

I ask for it not to be in a regional forum since those that aren't in that region typically won't visit it. Since it is event-centric, it would make sense to me to place it/keep it in the events forum. And after the 1st is OK with me.

And didn't you know? Railgun>Admin>Fact>Opinion.

Hello? Anyone? It's just enabling posting. How about then a new forum dedicated to planning other events? Not all that difficult.

If you have an additional event, that is not a regional event you can request for a section for it.

But just planning an event? No You can't have a section for planning an event.

I would suggest that you take a look at the west section, where almost monthly events are set up there. If you are not able to do it in your regional section what makes you think that you can do it in some dedicated section?

It's not a dedicated section. The section already exists. It's called Rotary Owner Events. It's the main forum for such things, but it's closed. This is not a regional specific thing. Is there really an issue with opening this up or what?

There are 4 sub sections in the Rotary Owner Events section, They all can be posted in. They are not locked out.

Can you not post in the Rotary Revolution one that you are tauting in your spammed posts?

Again, if you have an additional event that is already planned, that is not one of the 4 then we can create a sub-section for your event.

Uhh...no...it's closed...

And this being not specific (I was only referring to it due to its likeness) I wasn't intending to post it there. If you want to open that up and move it, then so be it.

I don't have one planned. I'm trying to get national attention, hence posting in ALL the forums. If you have a better idea, then PLEASE tell me.

Do you have a location?

Do you have a sponsor?

Do you have anything but a desire to post?

And again, posting the same post in multiple sections is in violation of the TOS and Forum rules and will be dealt with as spamming.

Dude...are you kidding me? No, hence the thread.

No, hence the thread.

And considering you have ~7x more posts than me (unless you modified your post count) that's a dumb thing to ask. Look how long I've been around here. Don't take me for an idiot. I can care less about said "infraction." Do what you want. I'm just trying to get something going for everyone here and involve everyone. Not too hard to accommodate. But apparently my logic is escaping all.

Actually I have modified my post count, I have removed around 10,000 posts from the count. I removed 6,000 posts from my count just today. But that is regardless and off track to this thread.

You posted: Revive Rotary Revolution. There is a subsection already for the Rotary Revolution.

If you wanted to start your own meet, that was not Rotary Rev, this is how it would work:

You would get the guys in your regional section to get together and decide on a day, and a event, and a time and a location.

Once you had all those things decided, and if then you wanted to make it for outside your region, you would contact either the mod for your regional section or an admin and they could get a new Rotary Event sub-section created.

For example the 2nd biggest rotary event in the USA, the Bay Area's Rotary Fest, is really only a west regional thing (CA, WA, OR, AZ and NV) for the last couple of years. If next year, the organizers wish to deal with people from out of that area, they will ask for a subsection to be created in the Rotary Events section.

This is how every other event has been created. You first need a group of people that are willing to put it on, in the region and area, where you want to have it. Get your Rotary Car Club of Chicago to sponsor it and put it on

But there is no reason to start a subsection on something that is just your dream child.

Or just attend 7 Stock, which happens in late summer/early fall every year.

My god man...

1) For the upteenth time...that forum is CLOSED. I CANNOT post in a closed forum.
2) Just a little to the right of the title, it says "...or similar event." Again, RR was a reference, nothing more. If what this may become is called RR, then so be it.

It's NOT a subsection. It's the main forum. Just like the rotary performance forum is open to threads, then you have the engine specific sub-forums. And it's NOT just Chicago that I'm trying to get to participate. It's NOT being touted as a REGIONAL thing. I don't care how OTHERS have done it, this is something new.

I can't fathom what the issue is with being allowed to discuss creating a new event. Seriously, where's the resistance coming from? Is this really going to be the detriment to the forum? I mean, you're describing what YOU might do, but I'm obviously not you. This is a FORUM...it's used to discuss things that pertain to all things rotary (well, 7 and older specific) on a national level. If it were regional/local, I'd post it in my own forum and leave it at that. Which I did, but referenced the thread here, since it's NOT just local.

I don't care about 7stock. Yeah, it's big. Yeah, it's got national attention, but it doesn't do anything for driving nor will it ever. Same with MRR. It's just some parade laps. That's it.

If you want to reopen the RR forum, then do it, or someone do it. That's fine. Move the thread in there, delete all the others. I don't care. But to tell me that I should start this in my region's thread just because other's have done it...come on man...

Hmmm works here, perhaps you need to reset your cookies?

Again figure out the very basics and we can go from there. If you are not willing to stand up and figure out those basics, and work out the logistics, then why are you posting?

If you want to reopen the RR forum, then do it, or someone do it.
Been open... again try resetting your cookies

Yep, there is no sense even talking about it, if you are not willing to set up and set it up for YOUR AREA.

Just like everyone else does for their local and area meets.

Otherwise it is just you talking, and not doing anything. Do something if you want an event. Be in charge and set it up yourself. Figure out who will be supporting it with the people that are in the area.

Otherwise, someone will set something up in some other area that you don't have the commitment to drive too, and you will say that it is not for you.

Cookies are not going to show me whether a forum is open or closed. Cookies don't keep track of that. It's open now...and it JUST opened.

If you are not willing to stand up and figure out those basics, and work out the logistics, then why are you posting?
Did you even read my thread? I AM willing, but I can't do it alone.

Jesus...just shoot me...

Since it's opened...which is what I had asked all along (sort of)...you can go ahead and close this... My brain aches...eh...

As I'm looking at it...please move the main thread from MW and kill the others. You're moving all the x-linked threads into that RR forum.

No, that is why you start IN YOUR REGIONAL SECTION.

But I guess that you can't read the sentences from mutiple people telling you that.

You just don't seem to get that if you want an event in YOUR AREA, you need to do it in YOUR REGIONAL SECTION.

and if I can really shoot you I would... no one that needs that explained multiple times by multiple people should be left unshot.
