Soooo slow!!!?!

I have been a member here for awhile now, and in that time I have seen many things happen here. However, I cannot understand why 65% of the time it takes almost a minute for me to load pages. Even previously viewed pages take forever.
I'm not really trying to bitch about something I pay nothing for, but when this site was sold, traded, pawned, or whatever happened it was supposed to be a good thing! All I see is the same 1/2 broken forum that takes forever to extract anything from. It's not my computer or internet either, I sail through everything on the internet including other forums. I encounter the same problem on another PC as well. This forum is my favorite and I know alot of people on here. Ive turned off firewalls, virus control etc. What can I do "if anything" to fix this problem? Surely im not the only person who has encountered this problem. Thanx

The speed of access is very dependent on the load on the servers. You will find sometimes of the day that the board accesses very quick, and other times it is slow.

They are working on the servers for some other issues, perhaps they can look into the speed as well, but it is often dependent on the load.

I understand, It just seems that whenever I'm trying to catch up on things that I wasn't able to look at for a day or two, that It takes me 45 min to do something that should take 10 min to do. This site has been a great asset to me, but since the last time that the site was down completely it has functioned less efficiently than before......maybe just me! And as of right now (2 am), pages are loading twice as fast, which puts average page time at a tolerable rate. 7club is forever, and I hope it only gets better. Thanks Icemark for at least giving some insight to my problem, spring isn't far off, and it's time to start gearing up for meets and events. I hope the club will be ready for the increased volume in members.

What time are you active on the forum? It always lags at 2am EST up until about 3:30-4am EST.

I notice some lagging at times, but that's usually during peak activity hours.

It's all the time...it's right now even with Firefox 3, 6mbps HSI connection and a PC tower with a P4 2Mhz clock CPU, 1.2 G RAM and no streaming applications, just this one freakin' window open...

Even the T1 connection at work is slow to load pages and it's only this website that has this problem...it makes moderating the classified threads a maddening affair.

Is it time to pony up some money for more speed?

It's not about the money. Talk to Omicron about what your expierencing, he might be able to shed some light on the issue.

I have been having the same issue since the last time they (IB) did some maintenance.

Before that I had no issues and now a lot of the times I have to click twice or more on the button and a lot of times it will just time out then I have to resubmit again.

Ive noticed that when I am on my laptop and it hangs up I can try to scroll up and down with the touchpad and it seems to "jumpstart" it.

We shouldn't have to be relying on "tricks" to get the pages to act like normal...I'll just send Omnicron the link to this thread...

Here's another trick but it can result in a double post if you wait too long...hit submit...if it stalls, hit "X" or the "stop loading" button of your browser window and then hit submit again.

You can also hit "refresh" if it stalls out, which gives you the "X"/"stop" button back and then hit that and then resubmit. Depending on where the message was at in the upload phase, it'll either go through or prompt you saying it needs to resend post data before it's hammered through.

works fine for me (lately) ... like i mentioned before PM Omicron specifically about your issue, he might be able to assist.

Posting about it here is a lost cause and a waste of your time.

I PM'd Omicrom the link to here...it's taken 7 minutes to do this:
  • click to go to the RX-7 Club, wait for main page to load...
  • click User CP, wait for page to load...
  • Click subscriptions to get to this thread...
  • didn't wait, once I saw title forming, I clicked on it, then waited on thread to load...
  • Clicked reply, waited for page to load
Then I composed this reply in 3.5 minutes and then,
  • Hit reply and waited 40 seconds for it to load...
  • Hit edit to input waited time for reply to load, but the edit only feature box has remained fast...

Money answers all hardware problems, right??

All of the above is from the work PC, T1 connection 100 mbps, Pentium 4 CPU,3.00 Ghz clock,2 GB RAM....

Near as I can tell, this is network related and regional. When one person is having bad performance another isn't. Best thing we can do is to get online with an IB server admin and discuss it with them.

Couple things might help them narrow it down though... do you know how to do a traceroute? PM me if needed and we'll discuss, but basically what we're looking for is how many hops does your connection take from your machine to the 7Club's server IP, and what's the latency between hops.

I get it too and I'm directly connected to KCIX.

Theres many issues that can cause this on a high concurrency site, it's normally not network related by what they've stated unless the "tubez" IB has are straight ****

You can't change the amount of hops, it's just the way it's routed. I used to host a website with maybe a tad less traffic than rx7club that was greece based, imagin how many hops to greece they had no speed issues, actually they had better speed than their greek host.

I also just got

"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Not a problem on the client side, I don't know what your guy's setup is and I'm not being paid to diagnose but one thing that'd cause that is httpd dieing.

Grab WinMTR, run it on any systems that aren't vista (It wont work!) paste the output just to show it's not regional.

DKJ, your directly on IB's provider "mzima.net"

Do you ever have issues with loading? I'm bout to put my money on the cluster IB is using has problems, either their load balancer or crap httpd builds.

I'm getting closed link errors and images are taking a long time to load at times, some sort of proxy/squid is involved.
