Closing of threads

You mods should really work on pm'ing thread starters on why you close threads. If you think about it, it actually makes your job easier as you educate the members on what exactly is acceptable so you don't have to run around deleting threads.

Example:

I had no idea (I still don't) why this thread was closed:

https://www.rx7club.com/lounge-192/selma-hayek-444851/

There is no nudity in those pics and I just saw that movie on TV the other day. So what's the problem? Since the closer never bothered to pm me in exactly what I violated.

Excellent point and in a normal section I think you would have been notified directly however being notified of a post closure is a courtesy and not required. Especially when the thread is clearly a violation of the rules.

Your post was reported by several of the members as being a waste of bandwidth and having no relevancy on the site. Given it is not the worst thing out there, but a violation nevertheless.

While you might have seen the movie on "TV" the other day, you surely did not see it on "network TV" which the criteria for posting has been established.

Sorry charlie, try again.

Another thing that may be of interest. Seems that the threads that have 300 replies are being closed when the topic morphs. HHHMMMMMM 300 replies. Think about that for a moment. Some thread gets 11 replies in 4 days and yet it remains open. 300 replies in 24 hours gets closed.

Do the owners get advertising moneys from Ads that are seen?? Do the owners use the post counts to justify advertisement rates?? Seems to me that those that are interested in earning money would give the public what THEY want.

I don't own the thing. I just call it the way I see it.

Good point.

But consider this..... what if the people paying to advertise are tired of associating their businesses with the type of activity that happens in the lounge.

very good point, but i think the lounge helps bring in lots of hits, so not having the lounge will in a way hurt their business.

The buying demographic is between 18-35. I believe the lounge could be polled but your gonna find that the people that are engaging in these GDHSF antics are going to fall within that buying demographic. The advertisers are "reaching" their targets. That's like saying the advertising agencies are pulling all their adds away from Howard Stern.........not likely. On the contrary they are lining up to get a "future" spot on that Train wrecks GDHSRS (GDHS radio show)

I'm a sales savant. Idiot in everything else but a savant in seeing the sales pipeline.

how bout the lounge be shut down for 1 week. monitor the hits/traffic the site gets before and during the lounge being down. and go from there about what to do with the lounge.

or you could make the lounge exclusive like the DOO section.

I third this motion for making the Lounge exclusive...

It seems like it would best solve at least one of your problems with threads and newb users....

As for the scantily clad pics, I couldn't care less if they're around or not.... I think the "Zero Tolerance" approach is a bit strong, but I guess it finally got to the point where people abused the higher up's tolerance levels for the last time....

We've got nobody to blame but ourselves for that one....

I bet the Selma Hayek thread wouldn't have wasted as much bandwidth as this one did.---------------------------------------------> https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=227567

How does anything in the Lounge have relevancy to the site? Seems like an oxymoron to me.
Isn't that why there is a Lounge to begin with; somewhere to post subjects that aren't relevant elsewhere on the site?
