Censorship in the DoO
There are a lot of these poping up in place of peoples posts.
"There's a reason Merciless wants all religious threads banned...we can let them slide in but I won't allow casual blasphemy"
WTF?
So now we have a Mod going over all the threads and erasing what he considers blasphemy in that section? I thought the section was for people who can handle those kinds of conversations? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

New rules? Or is God really a member of the club?

The rules make a lot of sense. Where are you having an issue with them?
If you are concerned about the god is a forum member statement, that is referring to blatant attacks on someones god would be treated the same way as blatant attacks on a member.
Now of course that would be different than attacks on someones statements.
For example if I called your god an *******, that would be bad.
But if I called your religion a cult, that would be a statement (and possibly inflammatory as well, but the content of the thread would determine if it was trying to flame or making a point).
Flame suits optional and recommended. This corner of the board is reserved for spirited debate and red hot political or religious issues of the day. Facts need not necessarily apply but they sure go a long way to proving your point! Rough and tumble characters are welcome and free speech is always observed unless, unless that "speech" is nothing more than a cursing attack toward another Forum member or pointless cursing in general. In fact, there are only three rules, really, besides the general RX-7 Club rules.
Enjoy the fireworks and feel free to jump in with your 0.02 cents!...
- NO **** or half naked ladies, please. Some of us can enjoy the RX-7 Club's DoO board while at work and such material is sure to spoil that party. Avatars already accepted on the general boards with such foolishness are grand-fathered from this rule.
- No cursing attacks directed at another Forum member will be tolerated if they come out of the blue, completely unwarranted. Context will be considered if a raging "battle" is underway, but Forum rules must be considered the final word if anyone's crying at the end. There won't be a ban but your post(s) will be edited until you figure out a way to address your adversary/nemesis in a civil manner. Cursing means the debate is over. Henpecking to attempt to draw cursing will also deleted. Thread will be closed if persistent. For religious-type threads, consider God a forum member.
- Since this is a consistent breach of 'Net ettiquette, I have to add this rule. If you reply to a post and the post in question is 'back-to-back' to your reply, DO NOT QUOTE IT. You are killing bandwidth and memory at the same time. Any post having this infraction will simply have the 'quote' deleted. If you get beat to your reply by someone faster on the draw than yourself, I'll leave it as posted so that it is clear who is being addressed in the reply.
Enjoy the fireworks and feel free to jump in with your 0.02 cents!...

The nitpicking is where I have a problem. Who decides where the line is drawn? For example my threads are being edited because I didn't capitalize the "G" in god. Give me a break. It's not as if a particular belief system is singled out in the statment.
For example many of the posts are being erased for being "blasphemous". The mere notion of god is equally offending to people on the other side of the spectrum. I find it hard to believe the justification for editing a post because somebody is offending another person that doesn't have the slightest shred of evidence to even exist. I find it downright crazy, especially in that section of the forum. By doing so you are not eliminating personal attacks but rather censoring the other opinion.
If that is going to be the case. Can you please have Mar3 clean up my thread for me.

Of course God and the world are common topics, but pretty much any topic that raises tempers and eye brows in the lounge can go free in there (as long as they don't too badly break the loose morals and rules of the board).
The section is popular with members that often find themselves at odds with popular opinion on the board as a place they can sound out about topics of the day/week/century.
Many people get their feelings hurt easy on the internet and in that section so we have been limiting it to members that request or are suggested for it and that have at least 500 posts.

And of course any time you feel a (any) section is becoming over or under moderated please feel free to contact me or DKJ as the the regular daily working admins on the board and we will try and address any issues.
Remember however that moderators also wear the hat of a member and have the right to speak their mind just as you do, but should not be editing your posts unless they go over the line drawn in the rules or you request it.
<edit> And as far as the comment Merciless wanted to ban all religious threads, it was brought up that they often become flame wars and most often do not benefit the board in anyway. Though we have not done this, it had been discussed by the moderation staff here mostly due to members like Mark Strong.<end edit>

I will stop the editing of hot dog's misspelling of the word when he is clearly referring to the deity NAMED God. Any paper turned in to a college prof with "zeus" as opposed to "Zeus" would be graded down immediately for such a blatant disregard for the rules of English...it is OBVIOUS what the intent was in the cases I have edited previously regarding "god".

It's "Hot Dog" to you. Why do you continue to insult me with the name calling. I have feelings to you know.
You should learn from that and quit throwing your personal "tipper sticker" edits on peoples posts because you don't agree with them.

I think anyone that has been on this board for more than a week, does get frustrated with mis-spellings and major grammar errors and would wish for the power to fix what appears to be blatant mistakes in someones posts- right backyard???

Is that how you spell "******"? Listen my only beef is that my posts along with other peoples are being changed because he does not agree with what is being said. That's what the section is there for.

Geez....what is wrong with you??
I have feelings, too....I'm merely reacting to you hurting me first...as they say, if you can't take the heat...
I have to explain everything I do in those edit boxes...you're not supposed to just edit and run explaining nothing...the tipper sticker will continue if the flaming and cursing continue. I give a little and the guy keeps whining...wudever.
