What's the reason for the 5post rule?

I was a member to this forum a few years ago, and haven't logged in for a while. Now my username/password is gone, and I need to post at least 5 times before I can post to other forums. Whats up with that? It just forces ppl to post nonsense BS!!! (just like this post)

It technically forces people to search more, and post less. Alot of the veteran members were requesting this to happen for years. This is also keeping the forum about 99.9% spam free now.

Oh, and posts only count in the Technical Sections, Regional Sections, and certain parts of the Classifeds. Post count does not count in any of the General sections.

My previous username was fd3s_tt.
Also if this rule is to make people search more, and post less, it defeats the purpose......

Sorry that it does not meet your approval but it is designed for the benefit of the majority, not the one.

We don't delete names by the way. There is no record of that name which means perhaps you are not remembering it correctly. Could it be a variation of that name and when you were a previous member, were you also in Ohio?

That's cool - I understand the reasoning behind it.

I have so many usernames and passwords on various sites, it's hard to remember. It may be some variation of my first/last name.

Also, I have been in Ohio since I created my initial account.
