1st gen specific casual section
Since the 2nd and 3rd gen sections have 3 sections.
I am wondering if it can created to where we add a 3rd section to the 1st gen specific section, a sub-section where 1st gen members can discuss other than repair/mods and technical data without going to the lounge.
The 1st gen section is a tight knit section where they are comfortable converseing with eachother but generally do not want to go to the lounge where most things are a free for all.
The reason I am proposing this is that it would be easier to keep the tech section more organized and still have a place for 1st gen members to chat about other matters.
I of course am volunteering to oversee the section and will help with whatever I can.

Great idea doc! I used to frequent the lounge, but got sick of it. The first gen community is far better! Plus it would be great for those "first gen movie sightings!" type threads that aren't relevant to the whole lounge, but do not belong in the technical forum. I'm all for this idea!

I'm definatly in favor of it, I rarely go to the lounge, most of the stuff posted there is garbage, but like you say, it would be nice to just bs with other first gen guys without crowding the tech section. Go for it!
Yes, I think this is an excellent idea. Most of us in the 1st gen section dont like dealing with the garbage in the lounge. If we do post in the lounge, most 1st gen guys wont see it because they dont go there. And if you post anything in the lounge, you dont often get any kind of constructive response. I am all for this, as long as it isnt allowed to turn into a free for all. And also as long as the lounge rats dont try to turn it into another lounge just to spite us.

Also, we are like some kind of half thrown together family. I have noticed that nobody screams search at newbies, and there arent pitchforks held high over re-posted topics. Its more like we help aim them in the right direction, sometimes we will even recover a topic that has been done to death. The level of maturity in this section amazes me when compared to other sites and sections.

That is VERY true !!! I often remember asking questions that were already asked ... I always got a calm rewsponse showing me how/where tyo search and all ... Good idea for the section too I'm all up for it !

Then, all 3 gens get the same sort of mini lounge you are proposing for the 1st gen section. The 2nd gen tech section often gets posts that are not technical but are 2nd gen related. Same with the 3rd gen section.

It's true. I stick eniterly to the first gen tech forum and hardly ever venture out into the rest of the board. I hardly know anyone out there! It would be nice to have a "sub lounge" just for us weirdo first genners.
