Thumbs up Tirerack now Canadian Friendly!

I'm guessing it's due to the dollar, but tirerack is now catering north of the border (moreso).

They are still shipping with UPS, but brokerage is a flat rate of $20 upfront when you order the tires, duties, PST, GST is all paid upfront as well. So NO surprises from UPS anymore at your door.

Shipping is about $89 for a set of 4 tires. The already lower prices on tirerack compared to Canadian retailers, and the rising value of our dollar makes this a killer bargain.

Going to order a set of Sumitomos for the FB for $330 US including shipping, duties, taxes, and brokerage!!

No Toyos either, none of the good Hankooks either. So there's some gaps, but there's also some good Canadian retailers out west here that I'm aware of. 1010tires.com and tiretrends.com are both in the lower mainland here in BC and have decent prices. I find that you can usually get a local tire store to match the price if you bring in a printout from them, then you don't have to pay shipping.

hey darkfrost, did this work out for you? i'm looking to get tires some time soon. the tire rack website has the following statement:

CANADIAN ORDERS:

* The sales taxes and duties included in this order are collected on behalf of the applicable Canadian government agencies. No additional taxes, duties, or fees will be collected by UPS Canada upon delivery of this order.

sounds good to me.

Hmmm, that does sound good, but I'm sure we'd still be having to bend over to UPS's brokerage fees (it still needs to get through customs), which are rediculously overpriced compared to the competition. I avoid getting stuff shipped to me by them if I can, even if it costs more to ship, because it's cheaper in the end.

Yep, my family and I have ordered tires since the new policy has been put in place.
The final payment on the website is all you have to worry about.
The UPS guy will not charge you further when the tires arrive at your doorstep.

Finished ordering some Khumo's for the 3. At $50 a pop, you can't go wrong!

Yep, no extra charges!

Even rockauto has put in a similiar policy if you select it during your shipping options, and that has worked for me too.
