Thumbs up So who's racing where in 2011?

Just wanted to get a collective post of who of you guys/girls are racing (or planning to) in the 2011 season and in which series?

I'm keeping the majority of my weekends open to watch/photograph racing and hopefully I'll get to be a part of it again volunteering for the Indy and BARC at Mosport.

Some of the Canadian series are starting to put some schedules together already.

Chump car! Tentative plans for June 11-12 @ Shannonville, July 9-10 @ BeaverRun, August 5-7 @ TMP. If the car survices all those then we might do October 8-9 @ Nelson Ledges, Its a 25h25m25s race.

With Racecity closing in 2011, looks like it will be the street for most.

Possibilities for Can-Saf Motorsports, nothing firm yet:

Mazdaspeed Protege: Canadian Touring Car Championship, Mobil1 GT Sprints

Mazda RX8: Canadian Touring Car Championship, World Challenge Touring2

Mazda RX8 3-rotor: World Challenge GT 1-2 events possibly, non points, lobbying SCCA

All comes down to $$$$

^ glad to hear some possibilities there. So the Mazda of Toronto FD is no longer running? I like hearing about more rotaries in the CTCC right now that Xaoii rx8 is the only one!

^^ sounds like racecity was a big venue for you guys out there, and the city is forcing them out??

I plan on running the stratus at nelson ledges, and probably as many chumpcar events as I can do. depends on my teammates and how long the engine lasts.

As far as the GTR goes - hopefully a track day at least once a month, and maybe some time attack too.

If I get either the TII or Rx-4 track worthy I'll probably try out an event or two. Not sure what ones though.

I might also be crewing for a ctcc team again, but I hope not.

My time attack car won't be running this year, so no cscs for me. 2Fierce you going to have your car ready?

that looks awesome lol.

And CSCS is getting better and better every year. Thewird, they've added Mosport DDT this upcoming year, does that make it more interesting? It can only grow with more support!

Looking at sigma time attack. Will do that with my Stockish S5. My 10th AE will probable be out 2012. Not rushing that build but may run it a few times on some lapping days. Besides the stock car is a lot easier to drive.

The ottawa FD will be out in the CASC series (GT sprints) with a new engine "V8" as opposed the rotary they were using the last 4 or more years...

I was going to build a CASC GT series FC but adding the costs up I am better to run time attack. (I can eat this year!)

Also if clubonetwonine has timed events I may do that instead of sigma.

RCMP is still around for one more summer - Calgary Sports Car Club has booked in dates for the Solo1 series. The lease expires at the end of 2011, barring that the city extends it. Don't know if Nenshi really cares enough, and there's too many of the same ninnies on the new council that voted to terminate Race City's lease early for it to be likely to be changed unless Nenshi champions it. So after 2011, it's likely most Race City users will be driving 11 hours to Mission outside Vancouver, or 16 hours to Miller outside Salt Lake City, or 18 hours to Gimli Manitoba. Or, like you say, unless you're hardcore enough, and funded enough (I'm certainly not!), they'll be getting out their need for speed on Calgary streets.

City admin (specifically sanitation services, which has spearheaded the campaign to kill Race City) certainly hasn't changed it's tune - last summer, CSCC held a rallycross event (basically a dirt autocross) on RCMP's unpaved parking lot. The city dump to the west, which wants Race City's land despite the fact it is NOT slated to be used for landfill (and who had to pay $400,000 to rebuild the paved public access road they tore up illegally the previous summer, severely restricting access to Race City and the Calgary Kart Club), lodged a dust complaint with Bylaw Services. Imagine, the poor city dump getting it's garbage all dirty, on a Sunday, upwind of RCMP!

Since many on the new council were happy to be lead around by the nose and outright lied to by city admin and Sanitation Services on Race City before, I think you're right that Calgary racers will be taking it to the streets - in 2012.

The "old" 01 car will be back this year (unless someone buys it before the start of the season....)for various CASC GT Sprint races and VARAC G70 as well. Or until it breaks again, whichever comes 1st! I think I know why Rance and Co. went V8 for this year, but if I were to do that I would change cars altogether

We finally succumbed to trans failure and put in a stock T2 box, so that should slow the p.port down, I doubt it will be upfront this year but hopefully it wont break!

What about stratotech in Fort Sask/Edmonton... they have a had a time attack series going on now for a few years, classes are solely based on tire compound/wear rating...

Its a kart track, but the car guys get to use it every once in a while

http://www.straightpipe.ca/

has more info, just need to search around a bit, if you cant find it, PM and I will see if I can get a hold of the guys that were running it last time I was went

or check out http://p1hpde.com/
