Rx On the Train

Rx On the Train
Well, this morning I dropped my FC off at the shipping company. My car will now be taken on a train ride across the country to Vancouver. It was weird and uneasy handing my keys to them and saying "Great, I'll see it in Vancouver"!
So for the next couple weeks I'll be Rx-less. I already feel empty inside.

LOL! Been there, done that!
Your car will be covered in rail dust when you see it next! Be prepared for a lot of cleaning in the first few days!

Yeah, that's what I hear! I got my car appraised a couple weeks ago and asked the guy what to expect, and he said "It'll be dirty. Very dirty." So I put on a nice thick coat of wax and the dirt should come off with out a problem. The company who is shipping it has a good reputation, but I'll be glad to see it safe and sound in BC!

But from what I hear, shipping a car cross country via train costs about $800. For about $1500, you can have a closed truck come to your house, pick up your car, put a cover on it and ship it across country. that's how they do exotics and collector cars.

you didn't just go to CN directly?
I have shipped with CN before and they are really good to deal with,
and have the lowest prices i could find.

The problem is that I am not paying for the shipping, so I didn't get to choose. If it was up to me, I would have sent it by truck - but that wasn't a choice, unless I came up with the $1500 my self. And Terrh, you'd have to get in line - I had already had a couple offers like that! lol.
The company who is shipping it is called Hansen's. Once I found out it was them, I did a bunch of research, and everyone had good things to say. Clients, moving companies, the appraiser etc. So that made me happy to hear. When they picked the car up, they took pictures of it and did a full inspection of the car with me there. If anything happens, they pay for all the damage to be repaired properly. They even have a copy of the appraisal that was done.
The truck company was called Mackee or something like that. If you are shipping cars long distance, it might be worth giving them a call.

sad to see the car going so far away, i really liked it!
i hope it gets there fine and everything works out with the emissions testing stuff in BC.
anyways, don't hesitate to ask for a ride to any of the Orleans meets, you can still make it out regardless of having a car or not!
