Ok...its not actually an RX-2. Its actually a 1972 Mazda 616, ecsentially the piston version of the RX-2.
It has a 1.6 carb'ed inline 4 banger which runs great! The car itself is in very great condition and only has 50,000 original km's.
The only differences bettween the 616 and the RX-2 are the taillights, grill and the badging...and of course the crummy motor under the hood.
Our plan for this one is to replace the original suspention and motor Other than that it stays stock appearance.
We are going to install the 13B from the 74 RX-4 wagon we have to get it up and running for the Ottawa meet.
I think we might be abandoning our RX-8 project to make room for another old skool RX-3 from the US.....too many cars!! So if anyone is interested in an 04 RX-8, let me know

Joe, are you trying to corner the market on old skool?
As somebody who saw those cars when they were new, this is disturbingly strange to see people modding cars we all ignored because they were not cool. Oh well I guess that is why they are still around and in decent original shape. If it had been a 2 door rotary, Diedrick would have converted it to a race car 15 years ago and sent it to the islands, LOL.

I am soooo buying 5 low KM caviliers and putting them in storage, because in 20 years they could be worth a mint!
Could you imagine the Z24 was the hot car to have being anouced at barrett jackson?

Eric, I couldn't imagine seeing these cars brand new being driven around like todays crummy caviliers and such. Its awesome that there are a few still around though...I just have to find them first BTW, yeah me and Dan are always car hunting for the old Mazda's...so far we have a great start to our collection.

No 3 rotor, I was going to be putting a 13B half bridge Cosmo RE into the RX-8, but its going back to stock for re-sale.
The 616 will be getting a stock 74 RX-4 13B motor in it for now to get it up and running, then I'll build a motor for it in my spare time (which will be never)

I'll get some better pics of it when we get it to the shop.
It was a lucky find for sure...I didn't even know there was such a thing as a 616.
I may not be able to make it to the Ottawa meet afterall....at least not for the first part of Saturday. If I do get the car together and going, I'll probably leave Saturday afternoon.
