yes you can go wider..... my rears are 285, and that is streched. Im no tire fitment guru but i wouldnt doubt i could go wider then the 285 also. But if you had a set to burn off first, good way to save after the big spend lol

Thanks for the compliments. I really appreciate it.

My interior is really looking tired when compared to the new paint. I am going to shop around for some new seats or getting the stock ones redone. I also have a Nardi wheel and shift **** to install, along with new shift and hand brake boots. I've also got a secret project I am working on for one of the bins. I can't wait to unveil it.

I am also considering some further powerplant changes but that will require a significant number of stars to come into alignment.

I liked old rims better on your car. The new ones are just too shiny. New paint is looking amazing though.

Like I mentioned the other day when I saw it in person (thanks for not charging admission by the way ), your car is one slick, tastefully-assembled machine. You've made some great choices on building it up! Hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Wow I just found this. I joined the forum the same month that this thread had ended. It is interesting to see the build over the years and how the car has evolved. I have added a few more mods since taking it over from Charn.

Replaced the stock hood (but I have still have it wrapped in a blanket in my house)
Replaced the 35r with a Aspec 500r
Replaced the 1680 injectors, and Supra pump with ID2000, and bosh 044 pump.
Replaced stock flywheel with lightweight SR Motorsports.
New Brembo Rotors, Halk Pads, and braided stainless steel lines
Replaced OEM throttle body with a Rotary Works unit.
Changed the exhaust a bit, now I have a RB midpipe, and a RB duel tip.
Water/meth kit from Snow Performance using the stock washer tank in the back, and a custom tank mounted under the car for added fluid capacity.

I was trying to keep the clean look that Scrappy had started. It is very discreet, very easy to fill, and is non intrusive. This has served it's purpose very well, and now I do not get strange looks from people when they see a tank of water sitting in the hatch lol.

What I find interesting about this thread is that Scrappy once considered going LSx. This is the very thing I had been contemplating when I signed up here (and still do). I can't help but wonder what the car would be like with a V8 under the hood. Of course had the engine conversion happened then perhaps he wouldn't have sold it to me in the first place

Anyway the reason I found this thread is because I was searching for Detailing in the Canadian section, and I did not want to create a double post for the same information. Since Mazdabation is in here, and someone used the word detailing it came up in my search.

Yesterday Shawn (Mazdabation) came over to detail the car. It was the ultimate in customer service, and convenience. I did not have to do a thing. He drove to my house to tackle the job, and made me feel completely comfortable.

Here is an idea of the things he puts in to his work.

"Full paint correction consists of:

Wash of wheels and wheel wells
cleaning of and plastics that have old wax stain.
treatment of wheels and plastics in choice of sheen
wash car
claybar
wash car again
compound
polish
wax or sealent (your choice)
windows
then a once over the whole car with a last step finishing gloss enhancer.
clean the engine bay (done first)
polish tail lights"

The end result is better than I could have imagined. The amount of dirt that can come out of clean car is pretty amazing. Even after you have it washed and dried thoroughly Shawn was still able to extract dirt that I would not have gotten. I have never seen the car look so damn good. I am almost afraid to take it outside now

Many people here like to track there cars, and beat on them. But if you ever want to see how good your car can look, or you simply want to pamper your ride then hit Shawn up.

Simply amazing, and thanks again!

Oh I have added some of the pics already online to this thread to consolidate them.

Only feels right to continue this thread with the current condition of the car.

Its fun to look back and see all the changes it has gone through.
It's a rare opportunity to get such a great history of a used car.

Time sure does fly. Being stuck at home the last week or so I’ve been lurking the forum and actually turned the car on and went for a drive. Still stinks and needs a tune. lol. Some names I haven’t seen in a long time. Wondering what the rotary scene had been like. Never see any rotaries driving anymore.

There's still some of us out here lurking.

It's pretty empty out in the east end for us IAN. I'm in Whitby and it's very rare to see non rx8 rotaries on the road.
I tend to see more people closer to the city, but even then its rare.

You car looks clean as always.

You know how it is.. Life gets in the way. I think the last time we saw each other was DGRR?
She looks exactly how I last saw it then.

There's still some of us who still have their vehicles. 22yrs and counting..

The Canadian forum always gets quiet during the winter... real quiet. I can't wait to get the RX-7 out for her first drive of 2020.

Nice to see she is still being treated well.

I hope you are enjoying it Barnett, I definitely did. Looks a little sinister for my taste with the dark wheels but beautiful nonetheless.

I’m actually getting the itch for a 2nd gen. Still have a few other projects on the go before I can come back to the rotary scene but I’ve got something specific in mind.

I just hope the combustion engine scene is not completely ruined by the electric revolution.

Hopefully they’ll keep an enthusiast class available for petrol heads like us.
