the better you have your car running, the less variability you will have.
if you don't do proper maintenaince or the car isn't in tune, then it's going to be very hard to pull off consistent times.
how are your RT and 60' time? take a look at those and it will tell you something about your consistency. you should work on getting those as similar as possible on every run.

and yes, having just one fully opened is probably not a good idea. you SHOULD be able to go faster with both of them open.

also, i don't know how you are launching, but with an NA try to launch it as high in the rpm as possible. a little wheel spin is good. with sticky tires you can launch from redline (but don't blame me if you break something)...

Ok ill fix the port to open both of them. My start launches are awsome i get .580 .710 and my end MPH is the same as on my 16.269 run but with 17's, 82 - 85 MPH in both days I ran.

You wanna cook your buddy, take all your belts off except the alternator belt and remove your fan for the race DON'T drive in traffic without your fan or just buy an electric fan

Oh and if you want porting... call a place called Mazdees in pickering I know its out of the way but dave is well worth the time and trouble to come to T.O. He's the only guy I'd let touch my car for anything I couldn't do or was too lazy to do.

This will do little to nothing in terms of gaining performance. And removing your fan is a bad idea if you have to wait in a lineup before getting to the launching area.
