If its driving bad with 87 octane, then something is most likely wrong with your car... What exactly does it do bad?

Also, do you know if your 5th and 6th ports are working or not? This will cause a significant power loss if they aren't. Unless you've rigged something up, with a straight pipe exhaust they probably wont be opening.

It drives with 87, but it just drives better with91-94. I have no idea if those port are working. I got rid of my emisions **** and made a pipe connection the "Y" to the exsaust manifold. How do I find out if my port are working?

Ok, so I tested to see if my 5th and 6th port were working with the grease test I read about in the forum, and I came to find out the grease wasn't smearing or moving. So I'm asuming my port arent working. I redlined every gear. So what is the easyest way to remedy the problem?

a good way to keep the 6pi system operational on the S4:
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/how-air-pump-auxilary-port-activation-330310/

otherwise if you want a quick fix that will work for the drag strip, just rig the actuators up so that the ports are always in the open position.

While reading those post I noticed them talking about a air line going to the exsaust? Conects to the Catylitic right? Mine is conected to nothing just straped to the frame right and doing nothing. Is this air line the line that takes to backpresure and opens up the 5/6th port? I'm going to put into he exsaust system and see if it will work. If not ill do what the write up said.

yes, this is the line (it actually also has another purpose).

however i really don't recommend using that since your exhaust system has been modified. you can try but it won't work as well.

the only thing i did to my exsaust is take the pre converter 1and2 out and my catylitic, then welded some pipe from canadian tire. I have 2 cherry bombs instead of my muflers. Ill try it, anyways if it doesn't work then ill do what your thread said.

Just out of curiousity what colour is your car. I'm assuming it's currently on the road and it's your Daily Driver since you cannot have more then 3 days downtime?

Edit: *Chances are if you removed all cats then you might not have enough backpressure just from the cherry bombs to push the actuators for the Auxilury ports open. Best bet is to try and hook it up through the air pump, not sure if you still have that installed, if not, then just wire the damn things open, this isn't an engine that's meant for low RPM's anyways

I just drilled bigger holes in the split air line, the part that normaly goes into the cat. Bigger hole more backpresure can go in, theoretically. Hopefuly the 5/6th port open up after that.

yes, but how are you tapping into the exhaust?
are you making a new outlet yourself somewhere in the "straight" pipe?

Im using the original one that was in the cat. Then I'm going to drill a hole into my straight, and then stike the split air line into the hole and weld it there so there is no leaks, then I connect the 2 peaces together.

ok, that sounds like a good idea.
i forget if the stock line is a direct connection to the actuators though.
i would think that maybe direct exhaust pressure may be a little harsh on the actuators because of the temp?
you may want to look up how the stock system works in order to mimic it...

yes it's directly to the exhaust, either into the main cat or right before it, and no, it would not be harsh because you have no flow, also they get quite hot already since they're bolted to the UIM and right abouve the exhaust manifold.

**Edit this is Frank ( aka RXciting ) BTW, just on FC3S.USD computer**

Yes it's welded directly into the catalytic converter.

It's bad if there is a cop following you...

The flames are just a natural byproduct of our cars running rich and high exhaust gas temps and no CAT's.

Unless of course, that cop already has someone pulled over while your driving by with "thunderouse" flames rolling out the tail pipe

LOL, aight thats good to know. It only happens when my engine is very hot, so I should be good if I dont rev to high during regular driving.

So angry

OK so after going to LuskVille dragway I dont know how this happend but I am quite angry at my car right now. Out of 8 runs, 2 were 16.9 and the rest were 17.garbage. Yet last time I went, 2 weeks ago I ran 16.5 then 16.3 then 16.2. Any one know why this would be happening. I got slower by a second. I just changed my spark plugs and wires. But now my original plan to fix my 5th 6th port wont work. So now I have to find that port on fixing it, need to make the shopping list.

Just wire them open.

How hot was it out when you ran? It's not an exact science... you cant expect to run the same time every time you go. Usually the hotter it is and the more heat soaked your car is, the slower you'll run.

It was roughly the same temp as last time I ran.
I wired one of the ports open but couldn't get around to wiring the other one open. Is wiring them open going to give me a better time? I got 16.269 with them closed. So could I get 15.9 or 15 something with them both open?
