A lot of people (on my facebook at least) seem to have the misconception that because they're scrapping the program, they can decat/mod all their cars and not worry.
The same rules still apply regarding emissions control devices, if your car was equipped with it, it can't be removed.
We're going have to wait and see until further details come out I guess.

+1 ^^ same fines etc. just now you don't have to take it in..... so a lot of people will try their luck on the street. if the ministry catches you without a cat i think it's like a $700 fine. heard some guys talking about hood exits on their cars (not RX-7's thankfully) shaking my head........

About time... if you get caught by the MTO its a $300-$400 fine but its not really an issue unless you get caught going to CSCS since they have the damn stops there. I got pulled over with the 20b on my way to Cayuga once. I never paid it and its been 5-6 years and they haven't come after me or my license

I have been running down pipe straight to muffler on my supra for 10 years and haven't once been pulled over(and i vent to atmosphere too). my brothers rx 7 got caught once, he got a cat installed, showed receipt, fine reduced to something like 50 bucks, and the cat came off the next day. no issues since then. take it how you want.
At the end of the day, you still need required emissions equipment installed on your car, e test or not. The advantage now is you don't need to fork out money, time or headaches with Engine lights(for OBD2 cars), or anything else to get your plate sticker.
