Angry Need To rant about my 7Gahh

i don't know what it is dammit lol

maybe its the fact my car Always seems to have an exhaust leak, or runs funny every other day but **** me,

My brake pedal has been soft on the car since I bought it last spring I replaced the master and one of the rear calipers good to go just the pedal was low, (maybe cause i couldn't bleed the front brakes due to the bleeders being seized) But i was still able to lock the fronts real easy if i wanted to, Okay so i left it,

Then the clutch went Frack! okay whatever just threw in an ebay clutch (I love it works great)

then im getting a wheel bearing noise i was thinking what the hell? okay replaced one of the rear wheel bearings then Frack me the front one goes on the same side sigh Okay changed that too Packed it real well tensioned it then redid it at 500 km or so mint okay

So Today i got an awesome Deal on A pair of FD Calipers and a T2 Aluminum hood (Thanks terrh) Driving back from windsor to oakville the car is misfiring on the highway im thinking

Oh frack here we go so i floored it just to try to figure it out it immediately went pig rich and bogged what the hell is this? I think I had my laptop in the car so I plugged it in The maf is reading normally tps is okay at cruise the wideband is going crazy check the injector maps, ignition maps all good I'm still stumped on that one :/

I think its an ignition problem or the plugs fouled maybe it did run fairly rich at cruise before

Okay so i've known for awhile that my brakes were kind of feeling spongy So i decided to throw my new FD calipers on I thought hey why not direct bolt up bleed the brakes good to go and have a nice firm pedal again... so much for that idea I get my passenger side wheel off The bottom of my caliper is just caked in soo much **** that the Rotor was picking it up and flinging it on the inside of my wheel "WoW" that's a leak okay so that's the spongy pedal cool get my Line wrench on the hardline in the back of the caliper turn strip ****

there was nooo way that caliper was staying on my car it was an accident waiting to happen So i cut the hardline and got my fd caliper in place then i noticed it uses a different spring kit than the FC (Frack why didn't i think to check its not a honda dumbass) also notice that it uses a thicker pad as well hmmm fc pads that i have won't do either

oh and that front wheel bearing i did 10,000km's ago.. Done need a new one again Frack! LoL

So now i sit here at 3am Torn even though I'm kinda screwed as its my daily driver and even though i've had to fix soo much on it I still can't wait to drive it again

I'll take photos of the old caliper as it is quite Crusty lol I'm just glad i do most things on my own otherwise id be broke lol

So If any of you FD guys have a spring kit and a set of front pads I can buy Pls let me know its my only way around lol and its not like i can go and buy this stuff at canadian tire (at least the pads i have ideas to keep the pins in place just wont have that centre spring part to keep the pads from rubbing

How did you get the bearing outer races out of those front aluminum hubs?

FD and FC pads are the same. For sure. 10,000% sure. The spring kit is a little different though. And I lost the springs for those ones, they're long gone. NAPA can get them though.

the FD caliper is Wider and has a wider opening for a thicker pad or so i thought when i looked at the 2...

spring kit is different but i used the fc center spring and bent the tips of the fc retaining springs so they aren't going anywhere lol

got into my car tonight i installed my bov the other night and i just am in love with my car hahaha

bwek, i totally hear what you are saying.

dont laugh when i say this, but i used to be this way over my suzuki swift GTi like 5 years ago. it was such a pain in the *** car. broke down every other day and everything you tried to do on it was such a nightmare. Looking back, just cant beleive some of the crap that happened with that car. fuse box meltdowns. trannies grenading (i gave up on the car after my 3rd transmission change).

one time my alternator quite and i was racing out to my girlfriends place where i had a parts car. the car finally quits on me in the very wost spot in guelph. highway 6 overtop of the 401 at like rush hour. we waited 10 mins (for the battery to spring back a bit) bump started it. made it halfway there when the battery gives up again. same thing. wait, bump it again. half the distance again. now we are stuck. but only a few mins walk. the skies open up and it starts to poor. pull the battery out of the parts car (to get the other car the rest of the way) and swap the alternators out on the now muddy ground. however, i dont recall being mad or anything when it happend. I was just releived when i could drive it again.

I still miss the car actually. Honestly, if you are where i was with my suzuki, dont give up on it. ever. you will regret it for years and years. and thats over a damn suzuki. if i had a seven and gave up on it i know i would feel the regret way worse.

im also sort of getting there with my rx8. in fact, not a day goes by that i dont talk about trading it in for something different. something that gets good mileage. something thats good in the snow. something that doesnt require such care in cold weather. something with space inside. or maybe something with torque.

but then i get in and drive it. no one but me in the car. no other cars on the road. im not speeding around or breaking laws all over. im just cruising. and its so obvious i cant get rid of it. it'll be that same big mistake all over again.

keep fighting the good fight my friend.

Just some advice about the wheel bearings that we learned through hard experience at the track. About 5 years ago, I was cracking races all the time in my front hubs. I would barely make a weekend on a new set before the front wheels would go out of balance and start to wobble.

I decided to look in the factory manual to see what they recommend for bearing setup. It turns out that there is a very critical torque spec and procedure for the front spindlenut. It is tighter than you would think. We followed the procedure and I have since gone 5 years of running on the same bearings with no issues.
