Unhappy My FC broke down on me at midnight last night need help fast!

well last night at mid night my fc stated to shift like a bag of crap, when i pulled up the the lights i put it in nutral. The light turned green and no matter what i did the car wouldnt go into gear. today i checked the fluid and the hydralic part of the clutch seems to be working so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be or where i should start. it seems to me like the clutch isnt pulling away from the flywheel, because if you try to start it in gear the car tries to move. also when the car isnt running the trans shifts fine. The clutch pedal it self feels fine...Any ideas??.....anyone?

Sounds like the master or slave is pooched, it can be full of fluid, but still have fluid bypass the seals, so this leads me to think the Master is blown, but when you replace the master, either rebuild the slave, or get a new one. I think I have an almost brand new Master kicking around if you are interested.

Yeap, its sooo common to for FC's to have blown clutch slaves (the hydrulic part on the tranny).
Like Nismo said, replace both the Slave cylinder and the Clutch Master at the same time. Save yourself from getting stuck on the side of the road again.

i just had this same problem, i was finally able to get it into gear but it would feel like i was driving in snow because the tires just felt like they were spinning and wouldnt go into gear, and it ended up being my clutch. i just replaced my clutch last week and finished last night and now it drives perfectly. im not saying it is your clutch, just saying from what i can tell from your problem it sounds like thats maybe what it could be, then again what each one of them says seems to make sense

It could still move, but not have the pressure behind it to fully disengage the pressure plate, and clutch from the flywheel.

If there is something wrong with the hydraulics on the clutch you would think that there would be some pedal fade or the pedal would be soft. I just replaced the clutch master on my car. It would work fine sometimes but every once in a while you'd have to pump the clutch pedal cause it wouldn't disengage the clutch. try pumping the clutch pedal and see if that does anything. Also look in the clutch master resevoir. If the fluid is really really black and dirty chances are that is the problem. It definitally sounds like a clutch problem so if it isn't the hydraulics it will be the clutch itself.

Thats a pretty reasonable price for a new clutch kit.

An Exedy kit was ordered for a customer was $580.....

You could try Eurodrive in Burlington, we've used them before for stock replacement clutch kits and have never had a problem. http://www.euro-drive.com/

while you have the Transmission out: Replace the Pilot Bearing(PLEASE!..do not think it is OK!).the Throw out bearing is a "given" as it is usually with a new Clutch/Pressure plate. You may want to Resurface the Flywheel(Eurodrive as RPM said). This would Involve getting the flywheel off,Which you need a 2 and 1/8th,or 54mm socket and a Flywheel stopper to hold the flywheel still while you take the Impact to the Big nut!... Check the Transmission Input shaft for Slop, and the Seals on the rear of the engine for leaks..I think that is It,Off the top of my head!..Oh..you may want to Drain the Trans, and Refresh the Trans Fluid with New stuff..(I went Synthetic, and I did not regret it!)...ok that's it..haha!

I might be willing to drive down to help you do the clutch this weekend if you can wait that long, I have to break an engine in, so I need tho throw the useless miles on it. Let me know.

Cheers,

Kevin
