motor rebuild parts what should I run for 350ish whp?

I Just bought an s5 t2 keg I already know im running a standalone (haltech), Water injection (aem kit) most likely an HX35 or a turbonetics 60-1 And a vmount

an oil control ring went in the motor So im debating on what rebuild kit i should get:

Oem mazda

I'm asking here because i want to know what the local guys are running makes it easier for me to get some help

I'm not really local, but I just rebuilt my FD (it started first try, just over a week ago)

I used Rotary Aviation super seals (Apex) with OEM Mazda Soft Seals... everything went together without much trouble...

if you do decide to use the aftermarket Viton coolant seals, do note that they need to be stretched out to fit the irons, where the OEM ones fit perfect...

if you plan on running high HP I would lean more towards an aftermarket kit...

although some guys are hardcore OEM... it does pose a few unique issues

I cleaned, prepped, and painted all my engine parts myself. Cleaned them with wire brushes, emery cloth etc. Just takes ALOT of time!

Pineapple water jacket seals (reusable and the preference of a number of race teams)
Atkins, they can offer a rebuild kit and take away parts that you don't need for a discount
FD oil pump and pressure regulator
S5 water pump it cavitates at a higher level then the S4's, more efficient
Clean the rotors yourself with 0000 steel wool (super fine) and Purple Power

I've read that atkins kits do less damage to the housings (because they use a softer compound) when the apex seals go, but they also don't last as long and aren't as strong as the OEM. I know RE-amemiya sticks to OEM...so I'd say OEM...lol.

That's why I purchased the cryogenically treated Atkins seals.

say if the apex seals were Well within spec re-use? I'm not looking to Build a brand new motor

what would be overkill and what would give me somewhat decent? I'm looking to get realistically 50,000 km's out of this keg

You can reuse apex seals if they are within spec but its generally best just to put new seals in since you already have the motor open anyway. Usually you reuse seals if they weren't used for long and had to open the motor for whatever reason. Or if you build your own motors, you can just go back in there any time you want anyway.

I pulled the motor apart tonight

it looks like it was recently rebuild hardly any carbon on the face of the rotors (I can wipe it off) the sides look new the housings look perfect besides what i think is a tiny bit of chatter

It was a pair of stuck side seals that had cause it to smoke excessively

3 piece apex seals junk? for the power i want? or would 2 piece be more reliable? they look brand new

OEM is best for everything. Gaskets, "O" rings, apex seals. Mazda has put more into R&D of these items than all of the aftermarket suppliers combined.

Most motors I've seen (mine included) that have utilized Rotary Aviation or the viton coolant "O" rings start to use coolant in fairly short order. Not as if they fail, but more like they "weep" coolant. I'll be pulling mine apart shortly to put stockers back in.

Now as far as apex seals. Stock is best. 2pc or 3pc? Six of one half dozen of the other. I've run a large streetport with close to 400rwhp for years now on 3pc and never had an issue. When I first built the motor I had an issue with the Microtech ECU and in order to rule out the motor I pulled it apart with about 5000k on it. When I put it back together I reused the 3pc seals. No problems at all.

I just made 356whp at 12psi with a S6 motor, S4 clearance rotors, 3mm seals, street port, dowel pinned and to4S .84a/r hotside.

to get this from a S5 all i would suggest is oil mods, FD oil pump, same turbo at 13-14psi.

the next upgrade for me is a 1.0a/r hotside (which i already have) and a 4" downpipe. possibly water meth just to lower EGT's
