Mosport Swap Meet May 14th

Just Received Approval

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As per silverrotor's request I have started a new thread.

I just received final approval from Bruce Mills, Race Director for the May 13th/14th Event at Mosport and he has confirmed that we will have the following:

1) A special RX7 Club meeting and camping area (inside Turn 8)

2) An invitation to all club members to the Saturday night BBQ that is normally reserved for Race Drivers, Crew, and Corner Workers. It is great fun and a blast to bench race and hear all of the inside stories. This will cost $5.00 a head for those who want to attend.

3) A "Brisk" Pace lap session on Sunday behind the pace car. This will be very quick so make sure that your car is in good condition. They are offering a few laps. This could be from 3 to 10 laps so make sure your car is "SAFE". Passengers are allowed. No helmets will be required. NO PASSING AT ALL. This is the first time they are doing this so don't screw it up.

4) An invitation to perform a very close examination of Greg Beresford Pro Formula Mazda RX8 powered formula car. You can ask the team any questions that you may have. As well you will be able to examine my car as well as Al's ( if I can talk him into coming out for the day).

5) An Interview by at track announcers for 1 lucky person, to be picked by yours truly so begging and groveling appreciated.

6) Oh yeah, as well as free tickets to the event for all who want to attend.

Remember that this is all free, or a $5 charge if you want to go to the Race BBQ. You should have a GREAT TIME. I would like to recommend that the meet take place on Sunday the 14th, so that more people can attend and get on-track and see the races and swap stuff. Start planning to be there I would be delighted to have over 30 RX7's/ RX8's there.

Lets start a list of attendees so that I can pm each of you with the tickets when they become available. You can have quite a few tickets so invite your friends and family to watch you go on track at Mosport and have a good time. If anyone knows of other Mazda owners, let them know as well and lets get 50 cars out on track.

Eric

By the way anybody that is interested in crewing for me on the Victoria Day PRO Weekend (the next weekend) let me know in a PM. I am doing the 3 Hour Race Sunday evening and I would like to have a few extra bodies to do basic stuff like tire cleaning, windshield cleaning, body smashout (hopefully not). I will cover food and Race Passes. We have just enough crew right now, but a few extra bodies are always helpful.

I PM'd ya..

I'll be there.

In the FC if parts demand is low - and minivan if it isn't

When we get closer I think everyone should post a thread of what they have available to bring to the meet.

I will just need a count for the BBQ before the Weekend so they can order food. You can give the money to the people at Mosport when you go to the BBQ.

As a head count as of now we have 4. A good start, lets break 30 cars and put on the biggest RX7/RX8 parade in Canada with the cars on track where they belong!

Mosport has a professional photographer and I will start working with him to coordinate a group RX7 and RX8 car shot as well as some shots of the rapid (lol) parade laps. You will have to buy the shots, but it is pretty reasonable about $50 bucks for a disc.

He asked a good Question. Can a stock 1985 GSL keep up, with a mediocure driver? ( I have never been on a track before...)

The quick pace laps will be at the speed we normally do our race pace laps. Not much slower than 80 kmh through most of the corners and up to about 120 on the straights. Just good highway speeds except that you will be going around blind corners and down some great hills. Victoracers will not be required and any stock RX7 will have no problem keeping up. My Exploder has lapped much faster ;-

Don't overthink it, just plan on coming out and having some fun.

Eric
