May 13th - 2012 Spring meet!! SRTA + RX7 Club @ TMP!!!!!!!
It was a great turn out. I had loads of fun for the 1st time at the track. Too bad my coolant hose exploded on the drive back to toronto. Now its time to fix it up and to look into some racing tires...my street performance were slipping like crazy yesterday.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone I met today. We had a fun time and worked out a lot of issues with the car. We started the day too rich by far, but thanks to the flexibility of the EFI setup (big dig at Al, LOL), we were able to make a lot of changes on the fly and get the car running well. We still have to trim out a few of the mid range bins, but we are very close. The car was also running hard enough that in my last session, I was suffering from fuel starvation in right hand turns. You know, you fix one issue and it leads to another. Freakin' pig pulls hard to over 9,000 now and I only lift in deference to my stock Mazda apex seals. It was also making enough torks to allow me to play around in second. It was fun and relaxed, a very decent day.
I also want to thank everyone for being nice on-track with the second driver in my car. It was his second time in the car and his first time at TMP. This was my second time at the track, but I don't remember it as being so bumpy. Crap I was bouncing through Turns 1 and 2 pretty hard. We kept playing with the shocks and got something usable, but if I was going hard, I would drop my spring rates, add more damping and bigger bars. I also spent most of my time in second gear, just getting up to third a few times a lap.
I also want to give the big "Baby Pants" Award to everyone who didn't bring their RX7's out today. I saw a bunch of RX7's parked, but I was hoping to see a few more on track. Ian your car is almost too pretty to be on track. I am sorry but I don't know who the owner of the red FC and the other white FC are. The red FC is just a flat out great looking track car and the white car was being driven to within an inch of its life. Man who ever you are, you are very, very aggressive. I have never seen an FC lean sooooo much in my life.
Way to go and I had a fun time and hope to come out again if Sigma ever runs on a faster, bigger track.

I will come out again, hope to see you all again!
Well dude, for a first timer you sure put on a show. Great car control and lots of effort behind the wheel. With just a few changes to your car, you should be able to go a lot faster and have more fun.
I love all this track talk. I always knew that there is a lot of pent up RX7 Track love in this crowd.

I am the other white FC owner parked beside ian (with the same front lip as him). it was my first time, and I just wanted to test the limit of my car. I haven't brought the car to a dyno for a proper tune, but at wide open throttle I am getting 11.5-12 AFR, is that still too lean? At one point one of the wire connected to my radiator fan controller melted away, and thanks to the guys who helped me out by lending me tools to hardwire it to the battery so I didn't lose much track time near the end.
I will come out again, hope to see you all again!

It was a great day! Good to see all the rotaries out on the track. I got some passenger seat time with Rick. Now I know what to expect of that track when I do finally get a car together that will compete. The Rx-4 will be ready soon....
Got a few pictures to post up here. Didn't get everyone that was on track, actually didn't take as many pics as I wanted to, but oh well.
The plain white FC is Ian, didn't get a pic of the other one, sorry dmak.
A few more pics. One showing my 79 beside Jon's car (Panoz on the forum), the 3 gens parked side by side, the whole group that wasn't on track, then one more of a blue 3rd gen. Didn't meet the owner and I am not quite sure who it is on the forums, if he is here.
dmak I was the one who jumped your car and helped fix the rad. Glad to hear you made it home OK! I love your car.
Was nice to meet everyone and I really enjoyed the hot laps in the evo. It was amazing how smooth you were behind the wheel Alan!

Whoever was on the bike wasn't with me and I didn't cruise with anyone, wish I could have though. My car is the white 79, unlike what my screen name suggests I have lol.
Hey, Pleasure to cruise with you too. My friend(biker) and I both got sunburns. red as a tomato> this is the second time there I got sunburn, There won't be a third time, lol.
Pleasure seeing / meeting everyone.

My kids enjoyed watching the cars. Funny things is my son did not bother with the drag cars. He loved the flames coming out jim's car.
Good to see familiar faces and a good start for the year.

Good to see so many rotaries at one track. Way too many black flags for one day and congrats to Scottish for winning first place in Group B with his RX-8.
Anyone know what happened to Jim's (JDK) car. Just being nosey.

Tied for 5th place in group A!
Having some braking issues, every time I hit my brakes, the car would jerk to the right (SCARY!) so I was forced to brake much earlier and ease on rather than jabbing the brakes, will do another brake system flush, clean the slider pins and check my brake pistons before the next one.
According to Mazda, "More Mazdas are raced every week than any other car brand"
Check out the car manufacturer mash up at SRTA#1

5 x Nissan/Infiniti

It was nice to see all the rotaries out on the track and meeting up with the rest of you guys. Thanks to Alan and Rick for the ride alongs and to Rick for letting me relieve the memories of my VR FD......but pleassseeeeee get better pads and fresh brake fluid in her, its unnerving driving when your brakes dont make you feel secure.
