ON May 13th - 2012 Spring meet!! SRTA + RX7 Club @ TMP!!!!!!!

Ok guys, we are happy to announce a date and venue for our first meet of 2012!

Date: May 13th

Where: Toronto Motorsports Park

Time: 0900am to 0500PM

Its always been an idea of a few of us to have a track day meet and thanks to the organizers (SRTA) of Sigma Time attack this is now a reality!

We have been invited to join them on their first time attack of the season to TMP to join them as participants in their timeattack or as spectators if you choose not to track your car on that day. There is ample parking around TMP that the guys/gals not racing can park and have a meet and greet.

This year is also the first ever Sigma GT5 time attack challenge this year at SRTA. This is also a great way for people to bridge the gap between real racing and simulation racing. I believe the track of choice for the simulation challenge is Fuji Speedway ! For a small $10 fee people can race against other or against time and 100% of the profit goes to Sick Kids hospital!

Please visit the sigma time attack website for more information

http://www.sigmatimeattack.com

Here is the website for those interested in the lapping/timeattack:

http://www.sigmatimeattack.com/regis...n-information/

Address for TMP:

1040 Kohler Road
Cayuga, ON
N0A 1E0

This will be a great venue for our meet and I hope that you can all join us. Im sure that ride-alongs will also be possible if you ask nicely

This is the first year that SRTA series will be run at TMP so lets join them as they break their proverbial TMP cherry Im sure that Howi and the rest of the team will chime in. If i forgot anything feel free to add.

There will be great media coverage on track and off provided by the SRTA photographers and our own Charles Spivak (CS13b)!

Also a question that hopefully someone can answer... is the GT5 setup going to be like, full gaming chairs with the proper steering wheels and pedals or just the controllers?

The GT5 World Challenge (GT5WC) will be time trial based race. We are trying to make the format similar to the real SRTA, but are still in testing phase. The hardware will be fully loaded simulator cockpits of various models with TVs, PS3, sound, and Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel and pedal set. The Logitech Driving Force GT is an entry level, but very high quality steering wheel set. It's the most affordable and popular wheel, and certified by GT. SRTA selected this wheel for the GT5WC so everyone can practice at home using identical hardware as the actual race.

The competition rules and car of choice will be announced 1 month prior to the event. Full details of the settings will be provided and they can not be changed during the race - Tires, ASM, Traction Control, ABS, Steering Sensitivity... etc.

The GT5WC will be a serious race. We will be hitting all the gaming forums to invite the top racers to come out and show us what they got. To further promote SRTA's grassroots motorsports philosophy, we will be hooking up the winners with real track hours at the Formula Kartways in Brampton. The winners of GT5WC will also receive the similar level of honours as the real racers, complete with official leaderbaords on the SRTA website.

More details to come later. If you are a serious GT5 racer, or know someone who is, and think you have what it takes to lay down some lightening quick lap times within a set number of laps, in front of hundreds of spectators and racers, like a stroll in the park, come on out to GT5WC!

Hope that helps,

Howi

$200 isn't a lot considering you get over 6 hours of on-track time... Sigma is very well organized so you can expect more track time for that $200 than anywhere else.

I'll try and make it to this, but I doubt I'll be out on the track. I need to get some practice in before I jump into a big event. I'll also still be figuring out the car yet at that time. It's still on jack stands in my garage....

Buggy, come out buddy, no pressure for anyone to track. It would be nice to have a mix of parked cars and ones on the track

Buggy, since you get so much track time here and the benefits of having a live lap timer while on track, there really isn't a better place to learn! Plus there are a bunch of people who I'm sure wouldn't mind jumping in the passenger seat.

I might come out, but won't be tracking my car. If someone wants some passenger weight to slow you down, I'll hop in.

Oh what the he!! count me in as well. I will use it as a test day and see if I can make some eardrums bleed, LOL. Only caveat will be work travel as the car is ready to go right now.
