May 13th - 2012 Spring meet!! SRTA + RX7 Club @ TMP!!!!!!!
Might I suggest we all park behind the grandstands (facing the circuit track) for the meet, if that space is free? Experience from Cayuga says that's the most interesting spot for photo backgrounds, and we should be out of the way of the Sigma guys and girls...

Had a good first session breaking in my tires and then 2nd session turbo decided to take a dump. Stupid. Precision turbo. Ah well, the car got a decent shakedown and found some things I need to fix for next time. Might get a tdx61 depending on what precision tells me.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone I met today. We had a fun time and worked out a lot of issues with the car. We started the day too rich by far, but thanks to the flexibility of the EFI setup (big dig at Al, LOL), we were able to make a lot of changes on the fly and get the car running well. We still have to trim out a few of the mid range bins, but we are very close. The car was also running hard enough that in my last session, I was suffering from fuel starvation in right hand turns. You know, you fix one issue and it leads to another. Freakin' pig pulls hard to over 9,000 now and I only lift in deference to my stock Mazda apex seals. It was also making enough torks to allow me to play around in second. It was fun and relaxed, a very decent day.
I also want to thank everyone for being nice on-track with the second driver in my car. It was his second time in the car and his first time at TMP. This was my second time at the track, but I don't remember it as being so bumpy. Crap I was bouncing through Turns 1 and 2 pretty hard. We kept playing with the shocks and got something usable, but if I was going hard, I would drop my spring rates, add more damping and bigger bars. I also spent most of my time in second gear, just getting up to third a few times a lap.
I also want to give the big "Baby Pants" Award to everyone who didn't bring their RX7's out today. I saw a bunch of RX7's parked, but I was hoping to see a few more on track. Ian your car is almost too pretty to be on track. I am sorry but I don't know who the owner of the red FC and the other white FC are. The red FC is just a flat out great looking track car and the white car was being driven to within an inch of its life. Man who ever you are, you are very, very aggressive. I have never seen an FC lean sooooo much in my life.
Way to go and I had a fun time and hope to come out again if Sigma ever runs on a faster, bigger track.

Nice seeing some old faces and new. Thanks Al for the first lap around the track. My first time on the track. Eric the car is pretty but its fun to drive on the track
Congratulations to Doug for getting first place in B Class. Your sig escapes my mind. To tired this morning to think. LOL
Tons or rotaries on the track. Awesome...
Now to figure out where they rebuild bilstiens. Blew up the passengers front and the others sound funky!

It was great seeing all of you, but Marco your buddies BBQ kept making us all hungry all day. Thats not fair.........
By the way, what happened to Jim's car? Just as I was leaving, he was heading out on track with his trailer. I hope its nothing serious.
And yes, with the amount of oil smoke in the air from all the rotaries, I bet that Haldimand County had their worst Air Quality Day since they started measuring these things, LOL. Best Rotary Meet Ever, at least to me as they were on track and wailing the way rotaries are supposed to.
Eric
It was a great turn out and was nice to meet some of the guys here. I have a few pics of off and on track 7's that I will post up later today or tomorrow when I get home. It was nice to see some faces from the Niagara cruise last year along with some new ones.
It was amazing to see how big a presence the Mazda's had in general at this time attack. Between the 7's, 8's, Miata's and Mazdaspeed 3's, I think Mazda had the biggest presence out of any maker that I have seen at a racing event that allowed any vehicle to participate. Just goes to show how big Mazda has been and will be in grassroots racing and otherwise. Very impressive overall and the fact that any Mazda owner I have met is generally nice and respects all the other models as well makes me proud to be a Mazda owner.

I'll park there.
