a good track to learn on you say?
hmmmm, this might interest me.
as long as my car is track-worthy at that time i think might want to try that out

$160 for the day sounds reasonable.
is this track very hard on tires? my BFG G-force are great tires, but i don't feel like destroying them.
i might be able to slap on some other tires on my stock set of rims...

Just remember, the guys at Imageracing are a little crazy.
Their lapping days are not the usual, controlled lapping you see from other car clubs.
It's pretty much a free-for-all, with passing anywhere and everywhere.

Guys, August 1 is the same group we were just out with! They have Shannonville booked for every long weekend from April to October! So if you want to go, same as last time, just show up, pay your $ 160.00 and run all day. If we dont get the car ready for the regional at Shannonville July 16-17, we will be there for that day to test the new oil cooler.

I may give this a go if I can get my temps to maintain consistency at full chat. Do they have a car limit?

Putting in my new (purchased S5 keg) motor. Will need to see if it will run okay before the August 13/ 14 weekend at Mosport. I will be out in the number #23 Rx7 as well.

This gives you guys 2 racecars to compare against. Al's J-port at 2300lbs and my stock 6 port at 2400lbs (Touring GT rules, trying to keep cars at a 1:37 at Mosport). I have more suspension mods than Al, but Al has waaaay more power than I do. It will be fun for you guys to run with us as we both get around the track very well, but in different ways.

Remember the August 13th/ 14th Weekend is the Mazda Weekend at Mosport. We will setup in a separate area at the track and invite all of you guys to come out. If there is enough interest we will have a lunchtime controlled lapping session on Sunday.

I'm certainly interested, but can't make any solid commitment until later on this month.

...Just checked the calendar. Aug 1st is a Monday? Never mind then....

Now, the 13th/14th sounds cool...

It's a long weekend though. I wouldn't normally say this, but you may want to consider looking into some tires. I'm not sure that you'd want to subject those low rolling resistance tires to that.

We are trying to get our race car ready for that weekend so there will be another rx-7 on the track.

No offense IAN, but I don't think you are going to test to see if you can get your oil temps to stay below 190F.

You learn F all at a track day, how do you know if you make your turn in 10 feet later for turn 1 on nelson that your actually improving your line? You can't measure your lap times unless you have a incar lap timer, (then i'll call you hardcore)

I can tell you, at solo1 I always think my last lap out of my 3 wwas the fastest until I see my time sheet. It is actually the slowest. Just because it feels fast doesnt mean you are improving. Save your money for solo1 and learn to drive your car properly

no offense to that but all you need is someone to time you standing by the main straight ( pro track ) and for solo 1 u pay almost same as a lapping day but u have to be marshall and you get 6-9 laps from 9-5pm if your lucky. i know for me it was a waste of time and money.

I agree with Ridicilous! Solo 1 doesnt teach you anything about real time driving. I cant get my race car up to temp in 3 laps! It takes more than 3 minutes to get things up to temp. On a lapping day you learn about different lines around the track, the "proper" or Solo 1 line and then the fast race line and even how to drive off line when passing someone. Our laps usually get faster as the race progresses as things come up to temp and the fuel load lightens. If you want to be timed just ask someone and bring a stop watch, you will get all the infor you need!

But I get track space, an ambulance, and I know right off the bat that no kamkazi driver is going to stick his nose where it should go on the track. Plus there are tech inpections and safety guidleines that everyone has to follow.

When was the last time there was a safety inspection at a lapping day? They don't even require helmets!

Then there is something called driver's ettiquite which 90% of those lapping guys don't understand.

No matter what the stop watch doesn't lie, you make a mistake there goes 1 sec off your lap.... etc etc...

ya i guess we have different perspecives on how we like our track days... but again my tires dont warm up in 3 laps when the car is sitting for 2 hours.. thats the thing with solo 1. also what i noticed at solo 1 that i couldnt belive... everyone goes for the exact reasons you mentioned Cheers. but when they put my fairly stock fc with c6's and m3's (just a example) i dont think the PI system works too good.... You get yellow flaged if you come too close and than you have to back off. when theres someone slower infront of you and you catch up you have to back up. so how are you gonna record your fastest time? just something that i didnt understand there and i saw it quite frequently...
