Thanks to jim for the ride in his FD.

Thanks to AL at scarboro Mazda for letting me pass him and then owning me on the corner. It was helpful to follow someone who knows what he is doing And for an NA that car hauls ***! He can pass me when I'm at 7psi. (Not to mention driver ability )

Thanks RidicilousRx7 for heading down with me and giving me a ride as well. surprising how well it works for 12psi with 175,000km!! Other then the overheating his car ran well. Fast bugger he was in the corners

The bad....

Blew out my spare 02 sensor on the track. Thanks again to scarboro mazda for some quick engineering fix at the scarboro mazda tent!

Heat. Heat and more heat. Need some more coolling mods for sure.

7psi is plenty for me. Power slides out of corners at 7psi. 15psi just scared me stupid. Also blew the intercooler off at 15psi!!! must of the time with the boost controller set to spring it would stay at 5psi then spike to 7 to 8psi above 6000rpm.

The good.
Overall this was a blast. 4 rx8's 3fcs and 1fd. Plus a lotus powered 13b! Can't complain with the rotary turnout. Also mazdee's showed up in their race trailer sporting nissians.

The passing this year seemed better then last. I would go out again with this crew. Overall worth the money and had my fill fo track time. Track time is cheap compared to speeding tickets!!

Just missing the can-saf crew and ottawa crew!

Wow that's darn cool. I'm surprised that RX-8 guys keep turning out, very nice. What was the lotus?

Pictures (preferably with decent jpeg compression used and lowish resolution)?

Jim don't worry the RX Club Committee has talked about this already and we are definately going to do it next season but we are too late in the season to try it for this year.

Yes it was a fun day at Shannonville, AFTER we fixed the broken battery cable (thanks to Ian for the ride to crappy tire in Belleville) and after the 1st monsoon of the day. We ran just under race pace to see if the new MEGA HUGE oil cooler worked, which it did. It lowered our oil temp from about 300 degrees to about 240! Had fun playing chase with the RX7-8 guys. Ian you have to remember my car probably weighs about 800LBS less than yours! The RX7 guys did a great job, drove well and played safe. Hope to see you all out again soon!

Yes coldfire, you are mistaken! Mazdaspeed does not make a competition oil cooler anymore They stopped at some point last this year, at the current time they are trying to source another one. Mine is from the RX-7 gods at SpeedSource. They are in Florida and race RX-7's and RX-8's. If you need their phone number call me at the dealership 416-752-0970. By the way, on Monday I am going to Mosport to instruct for an exotic car lapping day! Ferrari's and more Ferrari's!!! God I love the sound of those things! And, they have asked to bring my race car!! Boy are they in for some noise!

It's big. really big. It looks like an intercooler. LOL

Gonna have to squish it in somehow if you are going to use it.

I want to upgrade mine! oil temps were pegged in 3 laps.

yeah i don't know anyone other than MS making (or i guess used to make) a specific comp cooler for our cars, but i guess yours is a little custom i am assuming?

mmm, exotic cars sound wicked.
but i'm sure you will represent the rotary!

You'd obviously have to do some custom fitting, but I've seen lots of huge, radiator sized oil coolers available from places like Summit. Speed Source's website is www.speedsourceinc.com, but it doesn't seem to be up at the moment.

Ian, when you say pegged oil temps, how high did you get?

My oil temps at Mosport yesterday were perfect! The speedsource cooler worked great! I tried to represent the "sewing machines" as I was called yesterday the best I could. Being down at least 100 HP - 200HP on the cars there, it was the first time I couldnt run them down in a straight line. Having said that. my corner speed were light years faster than those piddly exotics! I almost slammed into a testerossa going into turn eight!
