Help on B2000 drivetrain

I fI have learned one thing about Mazda owners, it's that you can't stop at one. right now I have 2 on the road, and I am hoping to go to 3, but I need an answer to this question:

Early B2000's (up to 85) come with a 2.0l F/MA engine. 86 on have an FE, which is "based heavily" (according to the interweb) on the F/MA.

The question is: Do the FE's and F/MA's share a bellhousing? Can you bolt an FE to an F/Ma transmission?

I know this is a rex club, but someone here knows this...

n'ere mind... Mazdas have interchangable bellhousings... I would just need the BH from the upgrade motor...

What kind of motor are you thinking of putting in it?

I just threw a rod in my B2200, so it needs a motor......me thinkin rotary or turbo diesel.

Just keeping my options open. I'm tossed up between turbo 2.2 and turbo rotax.

Hey that reminds me....lol I still need to pick up that BP motor for my Protege if you still have it!

An S5 N/A rotary would be a very easy swap into the B2200, which is what I'm thinking of doing. A 4 port 13B with an agressive streetport, S5 Rotors, Turbo intake manifolds, Megasquirt....should put down a good 180-190whp. It would make for a fun engine hauler lol.

The problem with turbo diesels is aside from VW's, there aren't any.

I'd LOVE a 4/small 6 cyl turbodiesel pickup...

I really wish there was an option for one in this country!

Maybe I should import a toyota hilux.

In order received:

Joseph: mine's old enough to have the tie downs outside the bed... And possibly older than you. From what I have read, F/MA's are slightly different than FE's. We'll see how much different. If you want to donate some parts to Project B-Rex, I'm all ears.

Terrh: Lots of the van city importers have highluxes, for about 10k you can have one too. There is a guy in oakville advertising import stuff on kijiji, but about 3k too much.

Dan: Thanks.

Everyone else: Truck comes home tonight. Stay tuned for pix.

Hahaha yeah that truck would be older than me!

Terrh and I both owned the same 84 Mazda B2200 Diesel at one time, it had the tie downs outside the bed. It was the slowest vehicle on the planet!

Lets see the pics!
