The province is finally quashing those weekend traffic blitzes, finally making unsafe drivers pay attention 7 days a week instead of just when they head to their cottages.

He says he's retiring in a year, and it looks like the provincial Conservatives may try to get him onboard.

I wonder if his soundbites of the crazy things people do to keep their cars on the road will take on a Queen's Park slant - tales of Liberals using duct tape to hold their briefcases together and inverted drywall pails for chairs in their offices...

Grand Stand Cam has finally been muzzled! Its about time. I had a run in with him and his boys last year on a Sunday about 730AM. He was giving me grief about not having front plate on my MSpeed 6 IT HAS A DEALER PLATE ON IT, there is no front plate with a dealer plate. 1st he called me "son". I am 43 years old, definetly not his son. So I called him "Grand Stand Cam. Then we went through the car being registered properly. He asked if the plate was registered to me o/a Scarboro Mazda. I asked him how i could be co-registered to a incorporated company? Of course he had no answer because I cant be. I then asked him where the TV cameras were, to show the public what he actually knew about the licensing laws etc. Anyways it didnt get any prettier, and I ended up asking him to a) give me a ticket b) impound the plate and tow the car c) let me go and get on with my day. Luckily he chose option C. I normally would never get like that with a police officer as I know better, one of my best friends is a York Regional with 20+ years exp. The fact that he stopped me about a front plate is fine, I know its the law. I have no problem with them doing their job, and if it was my own car I would accept a ticket if they issued one. Once he saw I was a registered auto dealer all he had to say was, thanks for stopping have a great day. Anyways thats my rant for the year!
