Does anyone have or know of someone with a Corbeau FX1 I could try?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide on a set of buckets for the track car and the FX1 on paper seems like a great option for the money. I can't find anyone around that sells them but maybe one of you knows, or maybe has one they could let me sit in? Anywhere in the GTA or the general surroundings would be great.

Thanks!
D

Did you use their store locator? http://www.corbeau.com/service/store_locator/

Four Star may carry them.

Yeah, I got a very polite email saying that there are no stores with seats on display in my area (that being all of Ontario) and they're working VERY hard to change that...

I have a Corbeau FX1 in my race car. I'm a little too far away for you to try it, but I ordered it from a dealer in the GTA.

Redline Automotive is where I got it. Had some issues with shipping (Corbeau drop-shipped it to me via UPS) and Redline worked with me on getting a credit for brokerage etc. I was happy.

Looks like they are in Scarborough.

*edit: I actually emailed pretty much every Canadian dealer Corbeau gave me info for, and Redline were the only ones to email me back in a reasonable period of time (most didn't respond at all.)

Thanks, emailed them!

How do you like the seat? Do you mind telling me your dimensions? I'm a pretty large guy, my hips are around 18" wide. I'd also like this seat to be usable by my wife, who's more like 13-14" wide. I guess I could always put in some phone books to shim her butt.

I like the seat. Well made, comfortable and looks good.
I'm about 6', 215lbs. with a 36-38" waist (depending on how I've been behaving lately) and it fits me just fine. I probably have an inch or two to expand and I'd still be able to fit my self into the seat.
My girlfriend fits the seat fine as well. She has fairly big hips, and she can get in.

For your wife, you could probably use a cushion or something to shim it. The seat cushions on the bottom and back of the seat come off with velcro, so you might be able to get an alternate cushion that you swap in for her. Would literally just take seconds to swap cushions.

The only issue I had with the seat was the front bottom cushion that goes under your legs. Depending on how you sit, it can work it's self loose over a session, since it's just in with velcro. We just put a little strap around it and through the slot for the lower belt of the harness and it holds it great. (Basically, the velcro started to loose some stick after a year or two of getting in and out of the car.)

*edit: BTW, what are you putting it in? If it's an FC, we had to do just a little "persuasion" on the transmission tunnel with a 48oz mini-maul to fit the seat in.
(The other seat I was looking at was an OMP "Big" and OMP told my guy at TRAC not to even bother trying to fit that in an FC.)

Also, I've got a flat-floor on the drivers side, which I wasn't thinking about when I ordered, so I have a Corbeau slider mount for an FC that's never been installed kicking around in my garage somewhere if you are interested.

Right on, thanks for the input!

And thanks for the offer, but these would be going into my E30 (it's a hoot to see what an old hunk of junk can do with a 3.2 M3 motor and a few doodads in the suspension )
