Brackets for Corbeau seats done.
I just returned from the Corbeau factory where my car was fitted with their various seats and the new bracket they designed from my car for the fd3s. I thought I'd share the findings if anyone was interested in purchasing their seats. Here is a list of the seats that fit into the car and my impressions of them.
Forza - Seat fit in there perfectly and was able to be slid all the way back on their sliders. Being that I am 6'3", I found that the seat was too inclined to my liking. I felt like i was sucking on the steering wheel. It was also a little more difficult to get into. I got a charlie horse on my right leg trying to play contortionist to get in. I wear pants with a 34 inch waist and found them a little snug in the hips, but nothing unbearable.
A4 - they measured this seat without actually putting it in the car and found that it had similar dimentions as the forza on the critical points of placement. They concluded that it would fit, so I never was able to try the seat out in the car.
CR1 - YES it fits. Now let me define fits. The mechanism that controls the reclining on the side needs to be muscled a bit if you want to slide the seat all the way back, but it works. You still have access to the lever but the houseing is right up next to the internal panel near the floor. I found the seat much more comfortable than the forza and being reclineable made all the difference. I found that I lost approximately 1/4 inch of headroom with the CR1, and voiced that it was important not to lose any of that precious head room. Corbeau offered that the CR1 can have some of the lower foam removed to accomidate the loss in head room. They seemed extremely willing to help.
Being that I'm low on funds since the holidays, I have not purchased any seats yet, but I plan on it soon. They even mentioned that they would offer a group discount on both the seats and brackets. I encourage everyone to take a look at their site, they are quality seats and the people there are great.
If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can. Use email since I am sometimes not able to check the boards as often as I would like.
thanks,
Blaine
